FWST Blog: Where's Bennett?

It is 3 games into the season! There is plenty of opportunities for MartyB this season. Right now the team is looking for a solid footing so you go with what you know and then work in the young pups.

The offense is averaging 429 yards per game and 26 points per game. I can't really see how anyone would be disappointed in Bennett at this time with those types of team numbers.

I see Bennett blocking very well. I have also seen him open on several pass plays, but Romo went elsewhere with the pass. That happens.

6? C'mon Hos. Raise the bar.

Bennett's been used more as a blocker this year. He's truely becoming like the "third tackle" out there, and that has tremendous value. He's one of the reasons the run game has been so good. I like how Garrett is using him.

I'm not surprised and I'm not impressed by Bennett; I don't know why so many people were annointing him in the first place. He's a second year player and he should know the playbook by now; down at the goal line, on third down and covered one on one and he runs the wrong route. If he makes those types of plays when his number is called he'll get more chances.

While we score 160 points per game. Ah I can see the future headlines, "Where is Roy", "Where is Miles", and followed by "Where is Sam".

Considering how many were on his jock during camp this is not surprising.

No kiddin. I bought into all the reports of him dominating almost every day.

3 catches is pretty weak based on what we were all expecting.

I expected his production to be low. Every year we hype guys in preseason and they do nothing during the regular season. See Sam Hurd and Miles Austin.

Bennett like RW said last year is in left field...

you need to make him the SS :) but Witten is already there :)

Romo just has to look Bennett way more I guess....It will come....I dont know if Bennett has had too many drops.....seems like Romo passes have been off .....they just need to work the wrikles out.

But Bennett sure blocks well as well as RW :)

Where's Bennett?

Tight end Martellus Bennett has had two drops in the past two games and hasn't been a factor in the passing game as was anticipated throughout training camp.

"Hopefully he can work in more and I think there's plays for him to be made," Phillips said. "We have quite a few guys we're getting the football too. Martellus will be part of that."

Tony Romo tried to get Bennett a touchdown in the fourth quarter on fourth-and-1 from the 1. With Carolina stuffing the line, Romo lobbed a fade to Bennett, but it sailed well out of reach.

For all the praise for him in the preseason, Bennett is looking confused as a receiver at times, like on the route he ran in the end zone and not knowing where to line up.

He's doing great as a blocker, but I expected more from him as a receiver. Maybe too much at this point, and we'll just have to let it develop.

I have a feeling Bennett and Witten are going to be a lot more involved vs Denver this week. Their secondary is good in coverage, their LBs, not so much.

If nothing else he might be used to split wide, forcing Champ to cover him so RW etc can get better matchups on Denvers other DBs.

I have been very surprised with his lack of involvment. He does seem to be a really effective blocker though.
