FWST: Decision to pass on Jackson in 2004 could haunt Dallas

Make it or Break it season for Julius Jones.....say goodbye to Julius after this year and hello to McFadden next year. Our RB position will be 100% better....

Little whiny girl Julius can go somewhere else to whine...

I think Parcells used Julius wrong .......

I agree. Parcells never should have coached Julius to run straight into piles of other players.........routinely.

For the 50 billionth time we were never going to draft Jackson anyways. Parcells' plan was to trade back in to the first round to pick Kevin Jones. Jackson was NEVER going to be a Cowboy.

Just like passing on Moss people need to get over it already.

I am over it, but it is fun to imagine Stephen Jackson in a Cowboy's uniform with his ability to catch and run out of the backfield. I am skeptical about Julius (I hope I'm proved wrong this season), and I expect us to use an early pick on an RB next year. We'll see.

Kevin Jones was the guy BP wanted and would have taken if the Lions had not grabbed him first. It was NEVER going to be Jackson. You have to wonder at how stupid people continue to be about something that has been talked about at least 1000 times or more on this board.

or to fall after first contact.

This player is special........and we got robbed.....but, let's get over it!

actually he isnt...he's a good player, but one who's vastly overrated by people on here....he isnt THAT good, nor is what we have THAT bad

Jackson is not Walter Payton, Earl Campbell or Emmitt Smith, but some folkds on here act like he's those three guys wrapped into one or something

David

Dallas may have made a mistake but not a lot anyone can do about it now. This team needs to focus on what is at hand not some move made in 2004 it seems like a waste of time

If Jones runs like he did in his prerobotic rookie season, no problem with passing over Jackson.

If not, it's a problem.

It always comes down to performance.

At the time, I HATED the trade.

Then after seeing Jones run in his rookie season, I loved it.

Then after the last two seasons, I hated it again.

Ain't it great to be a fan? :D

Thank you!!!
People keep forgetting that the Boys were going for Kevin Jones over Jackson anyways ( great scouting job there, eh? ). So the question is - Is Julius and Spears better than Kevin Jones? Yes, they are.

It doesn't matter who we were "going" to take (as if anyone could really know that). What matters is that he was there for us to take, and we elected not to. If we had stayed put and taken kevin Jones, we might be yelling about the same thing. Jackson was ours, and we passed. Oh well - better luck with this year's trade-down, I guess.

That about sums it up for me also Juke.

Maybe Charean and some others need to look into which team had the better rushing production in 2006.

The actual numbers might surprise.

Somehow, the Cowboys managed to have better rushing numbers than Jackson and the Rams did!

Amazing!

How could that possibly happen despite Julius Jones 'best efforts'?

COULD??? baloney. It pisses me off everytime I see Jackson. He is so damn good.... All-world.

Exactly.

Who we were going to take has nothing at all to do with it.

He was there and we passed on him...That's the mistake.

Parcells just compounded that mistake by saying that he would have passed Jackson TWICE if he would have been able to move back into the first to pick Kevin Jones.

We passed on Tom Brady but I don't see everyone getting upset about that.
