This is a different team. This is a different season. Blah, Blah, Blah.

The next four weeks will tell you everything you need to know about these Cowboys because if they don't get it done, it will be a different team that tries to make a Super Bowl run next season when the big game is at Cowboys Stadium.

Coach Wade Phillips will need to make the playoffs and win at least one game to save his job.

If he doesn’t he won’t be around for us to pick on anymore.

So there is no reason to pass judgment now. Whatever will be will be.

Phillips says he and the Cowboys winners and they will prevail in the end.

To do so they will have to do something they have never done before. Play well down the stretch.

It won't be easy as the Cowboys (8-4) have the league's toughest schedule to end with season with games against the Chargers (9-3), the Saints (12-0), the Commanders (3-9) and the Eagles (8-4).

The Cowboys (8-4) need to go 3-1 over the final four to guarantee a playoff spot with an 11-5 record. They could get in at 10-6 but it's no guarantee.

They would lose a wild-card tie breaker with the Packers (8-4) and the Giants (7-4). Remember the loss to the Packers and the Giants swept the season series.

And then there's this little matter of their history of fading down the stretch.

The Cowboys haven't had a winning record in December since 1996. After losing to the Giants last week, it has brought renewed questions and concerns about their late season failures.

No matter what Phillips says about the past not being a factor for this year's team, it is a big deal. The Cowboys made it so with the all to familiar December loss to the Giants last week.

It all makes Sunday's game against the Chargers a must-win affair.

With a road game against the undefeated Saints up next Saturday, the Cowboys are facing a three-game losing streak if they don't beat the Chargers.

And then all bets are off.

The Commanders would love to add to the team's misery the following week and of course we all know their history against the Eagles on the final day of the season.

The season is now. The season is Sunday against the Chargers.

How depressing...my first thought after reading that is we will go 0-4 if we stumble this weekend. It is all on the players now, they either want it more than the other guy or they fail.

C'Mon Man...man up and win 4 straight.

I thought the giants game was a must win. This team hasn't shown to be clutch when it is time to be clutch. So i will believe in what this team has shown me in the past and that is to fade down the stretch. If we lose this Chargers game that will more than likely be the end of our season and hopefully the end of the Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett era.

The Giants game was a must-win...for the Giants. ANYONE who thought Dallas should win versus an opponent who was playing at home for their playoff lives was being unrealistic.

The fact is, Dallas is not good enough to go into another team's backyard and impose it's will. The only thing we, as fans, can expect is that they play well at home and win enough games to get into the playoffs. Who knows, maybe they catch lightening in a bottle and win a few games in the postseason.

I don't understand your logic.

Don't buy it, it was fairly close to a must win for us as well given our upcoming schedule. IMO, the Chargers in Dallas are probably better than the Giants in Jersey last week.

We'll face 4 playoff quality teams in the last 5 weeks of the schedule, and we are 0-1 so far having lost to the 2nd weakest out of the 5 remaining teams.

Agreed. I think people need to come down to reality when it comes to expectations of this Cowboy team. I love them and do think we'll get into the post season and even have some success but goodness. This team isn't the '07 Pats.

Oh boy, another blogger who is upset because Wade Phillips won't call his team a bunch of losers. It would be nice if this guy was shown the door and replaced by someone who reports the events at Valley Ranch instead of deciding what they should be.

It was a must-win for the Cowboys in the sense they could sit back and suck in December again and still get into the postseason. But if you feel that you're going to have a solid December like you NEED to then it wasn't a must-win. You're still #1 in your division. That's not changing unless go 1-3. If you go 1-3 you don't deserve to be in the post season.

Just whatever you do, please just don't call it a t.r.e.n.d.

It changes this week with a Cowboys lose and Giants loss. Tie breakers play a huge factor in getting into the playoffs with how tight it is right now and us not having a tie breaker against two of the three possible wild card teams is dis concerning especially with a game separating us all.

This is true but let's be real here. We win and we're in. Giants aren't winning out. Eagles aren't winning out. Packers aren't winning out. Teams are going to lose. Cowboys need to win in December in they're in. Anything that happened before now doesn't matter. It just doesn't. You're #1 in your division. You win and you're in.

Hey, what is the big idea using common sense and having a realistic point of view. You are not a true fan.

Yeah I know that but I wanted to avoid saying that mantra. I said it all last year and the team disappointed. So no point in saying win and we're in. Because when put in that situation prior this team has shown it's colors and I have no reason to believe that it won't happen again especially with the quality of opponent that we are playing.

I felt the same way last season. We lost 44-6 to Philly. We didn't deserve to make the postseason. If we lose like that before the post season chances are we were going to lose like that in the Wild Card so what's the point of delaying the inevitable. Once again if they win they're in. That means they're ready to go into the post season. 2-2 is probably more realistic for this Cowboys team. IF they go 3-1 and go into the postseason? They're going in on a HIGH note. You don't want to backup into the post season and then expect to have success.

And they've already lost a key and winnable game in December. Must win the attainable games, especially those within the division.

I think the next two games are losses. Commander game will be a coin flip they're playing hard right now and they're at home and they will be extremely motivated to give us a shot to jeopardize us making the playoffs. Eagles IDK when the last time we swept them was. They will also be just as motivated to beat us as the Commanders. Both division rivalry games IMO are coin flips and can go either way but I'm not expecting much from the boys in all honesty.

Our win in Philly disputes this fact.

Only 7 NFC teams have a realistic shot at 9 or more wins and the play-offs.

We know NO, Minn and Arz are winning theIr divisions.

That leaves Dal(8-4) Phi(8-4) NYG(7-5) and GB(8-4) fighting for the remaining 3 spots.

If the Giants lose to the Eagles this weekend, we are almost a lock to get at least the 6th seed with only 10 wins. We actually could get it with 9.
