I think the next two games are losses. Commander game will be a coin flip they're playing hard right now and they're at home and they will be extremely motivated to give us a shot to jeopardize us making the playoffs. Eagles IDK when the last time we swept them was. They will also be just as motivated to beat us as the Commanders. Both division rivalry games IMO are coin flips and can go either way but I'm not expecting much from the boys in all honesty.

Well if they go 0-2 against the Chargers and Saints then that means they can't compete with contenders so the playoffs are moot anyway. Unless you want another wild card loss. I believe the Cowboys go 1-1 but even have a chance of going 2-0. Crazy prediction I know but I think the Cowboys are good enough to compete with the Saints. Whether they win at the Superdome is another story.

And they've already lost a key and winnable game in December. Must win the attainable games, especially those within the division.

This is true. But in the end it doesn't matter since we're still #1 in the conference. All that matters is what we do from here on out.

If they go 0-2 against the Chargers and Saints that doesn't mean they're done for nor is it a prediction of how they will fare in the playoffs. It's just they lost and now how to turn it around. Although I think if they lose both they have will go 0-4. So win against the Chargers would be one step closer to the playoffs.

Dallas beat NYG last December 20-8... how is a December Giants loss "familiar"?

They did lose to the Giants in 2007 but that was mid January and it occurred after sweeping the regular season match-up.

Dallas has an extremely good shot of getting into the playoffs at 10-6.

And they would lose a tie breaker to EITHER the Giants OR the Pack but if all three were ties that would be a different tie breaker altogether. GB and the Giants don't play so Dallas can't lose a head to head tie-breaker in a 3 way tie with them. In fact this game is not a conference game so means less to the tie break procedures than any other.

from nfl tie break procedures....

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in conference games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss

Our win in Philly disputes this fact.

Only 7 NFC teams have a realistic shot at 9 or more wins and the play-offs.

We know NO, Minn and Arz are winning theIr divisions.

That leaves Dal(8-4) Phi(8-4) NYG(7-5) and GB(8-4) fighting for the remaining 3 spots.

If the Giants lose to the Eagles this weekend, we are almost a lock to get at least the 6th seed with only 10 wins. We actually could get it with 9.

dude, don't ruin life for the pessimists with little things like facts.

they need the negativity to survive so you're just being a mean ole mr. grinch. :)

"winnable" and besting inferior teams are two totally different things. Dallas has beaten the teams they SHOULD have, this isn't last year where they lost to St. Louis and it cost them a playoff game.

The NYG were a division rival at home and playing for their life. Dallas was all of a 2 point favorite after opening as a toss up.

Dallas is actually a bigger favorite in THIS game.

No team is going to win all their games versus similar foes. Not even the 2007 Pats who went 16-0 but lost to the same Ginats team Dallas did and for the VERY same reasons.

The Cowboys may feel this is a must-win game but what if San Diego is just that much better? I can say that I have to beat the hell out of Mike Tyson because he's holding my mama hostage. However, that doesn't mean I'm actually going to be able to do it.

I actually think Dallas and San Diego are fairly equal teams. Maybe, just maybe, the fact that they (Cowboys) need a win and they are at home is enough to give them the edge. I'm counting on it.

Who was it that said that sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you? Earlier this season Dallas was the bear.

When two good teams play each other in the midseason it's anyone's guess who comes out on top. I'm counting on Dallas having the edge when they play each other again since it will be in Dallas and the ramifications will be significant.

I think Dallas can go 2-2 and win the division but they have to win Sunday.

You should have stopped here and realized that what you were saying is wrong. If we end up in a three way tie with Green Bay and NY WE ARE OUT! The division tiebreaker is applied first, which we lose to NY, then they do the tiebreaker between NY and GB. No matter who wins that tiebreaker, we lose the tiebreaker to the other team anyway. In threeway tiebreaker wildcard scenerios, only one team from a division is allowed to make it to the next tiebreaker.

The Giants game was a must-win...for the Giants. ANYONE who thought Dallas should win versus an opponent who was playing at home for their playoff lives was being unrealistic.
That's one of the most ridculous things I've read here all week, and that's saying something.

The Giants hadn't been able to beat much of anyone for 2 months. And it's unrealistic to think Dallas should have beat them?

Look back at the game. It's not as though the Giants played this magnificent game with their hearts on their sleeves. Truth is, other than Romo and a couple of other players, the Cowboys played like garbage. The OL was pathetic and the D couldn't tackle.

The Falcons are playing for their playoff lives this weekend. Would we be better off playing them than SD or NO?
