"Cornerback and first-round draft pick Mike Jenkins had trouble covering Amedola in one-on-one drills."

Serious question Zoners: When you read that quote what is the first thing that is going on in your mind?

I think damn Amedola is the truth

The first thing I think is how one on one drills put the WR in a huge advantage over the corner.

Amendola or any receiver for that matter would do good vs any of our corners in one on one drills.

I am not sure to be happy for picking him up or be very worried about Jenkins who can't cover a FA WR.

Right now, I am worried.

Gotta love it.

That it's minicamp and not to overreact

My guess is Amedola gets cut in preseason, and we forget about him until he shows up playing for the Desperadoes

That's the whole Wes to Amendola comparison!!!!

He's not as gifted as Wes, but he's quick and knows how to play football.

Did any other corner in the league cover Wes in 2007?? Hell NO!

I love the idea of these quick little squirts playing in the slots...it's so hard to cover, no matter what corner you put in there.

This guy can probably get us 5-10 yds every time...remember that's where Crayton is suppose to be (in the slot I mean)!

Maybe we'll get lucky and see him strumming an acoustic guitar in his room at training camp first.

How much do you wanna bet that Amendola beats Newman in a 1on1 drill at least once?

That is a drill that heavily favors the WR. Much different than on the field.

I'm thinking another wasted late round 1st round pick? :)
I'm thinking that minicamp ultimately says very little about a team's/player's prospects for the next season.

Wasn't Hannah on our team last year?

If so, wouldn't that make him a second year player?

They can bring in first year players who received little or no playing time. Not sure of the exact rules as to what constitutes them but you get the idea.

Who started all this small quick slot receiver stuff? Colts? Jets? Just wondering cause the NFL is a copycat league.

It's been around. It comes and goes. The WRs get bigger and bigger so the CBs get bigger and bigger. Then you put in a little quick and fast guy and so you have to get a quick and fast little CB to cover them.
