No, its called doing their job. You're not going to get something to print if you dont ask.

The problem I have is, if they don't get anything, they will report that he's being an *** ****, and so for not saying a thing, he still comes off as a bad guy.

Not this incident in particular, but general sports reporting. Either way it goes, they have a story.
