FWST: Why Detroit could be good job for Garrett?

Three reasons...

(1) Mediocrity loves company,

(2) More excuses in Detroit than in Dallas to excuse away underperfomance,

(3) As head coach on a bad team, he can blame his offensive coordinator for lack of offense execution, unlike in Dallas where ummmm, that blame rests with the...ummmm...offensive coordinator.

Isn't Bradford only a sophmore?

They could and should very well have the division's best QB by 5 minutes into the draft.

rodgers looked pretty solid this year as a first year starter....

Garrett can get his franchise QB in the draft....

And then get him crippled running 7 step drop after 7 step drop.

I don't know why some fans are so willing to part ways with Garrett. So he had a bad year. This was his first attempt to run an offense without the help of the HC or an experienced, offensive-minded coach (Sparano) by his side.

Given his lack of experience, I expect him to be wiser and more effective next year as a playcaller. I'd prefer he stay in Dallas and hone his skills so he can take over for Phillips next year. I'm convinced that he knows what it takes to win championships and he has the right personality to be a HC.

Indeed but most would take Stafford over him I'd guess.

I know I would.

Stafford has a really nice package of tools to work with and has won on every level. Rodgers looks pretty good but he also had 3 years to learn the system.

If I was the GM of Det 1st thing I would do is build a defense who can at least keep you in the games.

Because some of them do not know squat about football.

I didn't know running the offense of the most visible franchise in professional sports with an assembled group of talent expected to make a serious run at a Superbowl was "practice" for eventually becoming a competent offensive coordinator some where down the road. Especially when he's the highest paid assistant coach in professional football.

Maybe he can take a Offensive Coordinator 101 certification night course at the local junior college and come back to us when he's qualified for the job. This really isn't a "position-in-training" kind of gig.

Blame "Jerrah" for that. In his eagerness to get Garrett on staff he failed to see that he was simply not ready.

#1 reason...

The Detroit Lions #81 is better than the Dallas Cowboys #81.

I'm sure when he interviewed Garrett about the OC position assured him he could handle it (Maybe just like he assured him that Brad Johnson could fill in for a few games if Romo went down).

Although who's to blame two years ago is irrelevant. The point is it needs to re rectified today. This is a job for professionals with professional levels of accountability, not an amateur classroom or training venue. The circus doesn't stay in town forever, as someone used to stay. The Cowboys' window opportunity with this foundation of talent is closing by the day, and the organization doesn't have time to wait around for 2-3 years to potty train Jason Garrett as the current assembled talent ages, retires and goes elsewhere in free agency.

And that is the key point...

JG may turn out to be a great OC one day, but Dallas cannot afford to train him at the very position, based upon a wild hunch...

he'll be a good fit there. he can chose who he wants on the team as they have a very good number of draft picks. he can start fresh all over again. im still thinking his 2nd year might just be a fluke year, or just a result of a very divided locker room completely gone out of control.

if they go even 8-8 next year, thats like a huge improvement already. and he'll be regarded as the next best thing. it also helps they play in a relatively light division, at least by perception and how the division performed this year.

And Wade can choose his OWN offensive coordinator...
