I'm actually wanting Gabe Carimi the OL from Wisconsin in the middle of 1st Round but want to see how he plays against a very good TCU Defense in the Bowl Game.

That should be a very good game and a very good challenge for Carimi as well as John Moffitt

IF Garrett gets the job, look for these 2 things to happen:

1 - Paul Chryst becomes the O-Coordinator
2 - Carimi and Moffitt become targets to speed up the transition to a more zone-blocking, ATHLETIC O-line

I REALLY want Chryst as the O-Coordinator. What he has done on the college level with NO BIG-TIME QB'S is amazing.

I like both Carimi and Moffitt, but neither of those players are considered "athletic." In fact, Carimi fits more in line with the type of linemen Dallas has traditionally liked.

OK, maybe I should've said it this way - WAY MORE ATHLETIC than the 2 guys they would (eventually) replace - Davis & Columbo. :laugh2:

I don't know about Carimi if we are looking for a zone blocking scheme. I still think Holder from Boulder is the guy we want at RT if we want to run a zone blocking scheme.

Carimi is a safer pick, but this Holder guy has WAY more potential.

Paul Chryst has been the OC of Wis and seems to be able to get allot out of Carimi and Moffitt they seem to do very well under this system

I still think Solder will be the best lineman in this draft when its all said and done.

Mark my words.

I've watched this guy play for over a year and know what he is capable of. Because he was a former TE, he is quicker than any lineman you will find in this draft. His pass blocking has close to no flaws in it. The technique might not be as crisp as we would all like, but his quickness makes up for almost any mistake he makes. His run blocking isn't as good as his pass blocking but believe me when I say this, our screen game will dramatically improve with this man because of his ability to block out in space.

A zone blocking scheme would suit him best; and I think he will be a huge piece to the puzzle if we want to go with such a scheme

If we traded down 10 or so spots and grabbed this man, I will be a happy camper

That's weird, because I've seen him get absolutely worked in pass protection. He struggles at times when speed rushers go hard with an outside speed rush.

Just as an example, check the plays at the :55 and 1:10 mark...

I think he has the potential to be a good tackle, but he's going to have to improve at blocking smaller, quicker, stronger players getting up under him.

Me either. I think it's just one of those fads. If our blocking isn't working, then it must be time for a different system. If our defense isn't working, then lets switch back to 4-3. etc.

Another player to watch in this particular match up is Marcus Cannon of TCU.

I think Tyron Smith from USC might have something to say about that
