Can you imagine us hitting on middle round linebackers in back to back drafts? Oh how things have changed. I'm excited about and for Wilson.

Yeah gone are the days when we keep drafting safety projects from small schools. Now if we can stop picking TEs in the 2nd round that would be ideal.....

Wilson 33-3/4" but his is just 6' tall.

Hitchens 32-1/2", 6'-3/8"

Wilber has the size 6-4, 33-1/2" but probably not the required fluidity.

Wilber just lacks open area quickness.

Unfortunately Gachkar looked like warmed over poo at run fits too.

When did Gachkar play? 2nd half for the defensive snaps? Might watch the recording later on.

I was disappointed in Brinkley. Maybe he's adjusting to the system, but he was slow to the action and didn't do a good job tackling against San Diego. I can see why Hitchens would be ahead of him at middle linebacker as McClain's temporary replacement.

Right now, I'd say the starters will be Lee, Hitchens and Wilber, unless Wilson or Gachkar can unseat Wilber. Of those two, Wilson definitely showed more, but he was also playing the position that's supposed to stand out in this defense.

Brinkley should be cut. He was horrible against SDs 2nd string.

Gachkar was supposed to be a special teams ace with potential to be a decent LB. He didn't appear to be either last night. I'm really hoping Sean Lee can stay healthy because we might be thin at LB. I actually might regret losing Keith Rivers if Brinkley/Gachkar can't step up. I think it's important that Wilson continue to impress and continue to show his versatility because not only do we need someone to step up for the 4 games McClain is out, but we also need someone we can rely on in case a starter (here's looking at you, Lee) goes down.

Yeah, we are not as deep as we thought we were at LB. Wilson was a standout last night, he will be a good one.

Well, I'd give him a little time to adjust first before considering that. He wasn't bad in Minnesota so he might just need to get acclimated. I do not know how different Marinelli's scheme is from the one he played in.

Well, we looked to be in pretty good shape with Lee, McClain and Hitchens. That put us in position where we needed perhaps one more who could play every down. Then, McClain had to do something stupid again. I could see us looking for his replacement in next year's draft ... unless Wilson proves capable of starting.

Maybe. Wilson didn't need to adjust though. Brinkley looked so bad.

Some players are slower to understand a new playbook. It took Bradie James years to get it. Bruce Carter was always slow to catch on.

I'm not cutting anyone yet but Gac didn't play much. Brink had an underperformed night. And Wilson looked solid.
