Gaining Perspective in the Rivalry

Not trying to come on here and rub anything in, as I hate it when 'trolls' as their called come onto Extremeskins merely to try to 'rub' a loss or something in. I am just wondering what the fans perspective is to the Skins-Cowboys rivalry, and their respective teams' standing. Honestly, with the Skins sweeping the Cowboys, once off of shocker hailmary's and the other a blowout, were do you see our teams when compared? Skins a better team, Cowboys? Of course I say that we are the better team, proved it twice. Of course I can see why some may think Im trying to rile the fan base up, but just seein what you guys thing (try to be nice, at least 'try').;)

As far as the rivalry, I had read the week leading up to the big game that many Dallas fans didnt 'feel' the rivalry as they used to, that it supposedly wasn't as heated. Just curious, is it now? Did this rekindle the hatred, so to speak?(us hardcores will always feel the hate in the rivalry, but among the more social or nonhardcore fans)

I am more than happy to once again have reason to truly hate the Commanders. One sided winning streaks while fun for the winner don't make the juices flow. There will be other games in other years and more reasons than ever to hate the Commanders.

The only good thing about the Deadskins winning (twice) is, the rivalry was becoming boring and now it has new love (or hatred). But Dallas, by far, is a better team, dynasty, and national icon. Win a couple more SBs, and you might have an argument.

The way I look at it. At some point the law of averages catches up to you after so long. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Some people just can't handle it I guess.

For me I tip my hat to the Skins, they are the ones that had to overcome the adversity and finally get over that hump that had plauged them for a while now.

The same could be said, in our case against the Eagles. We finally got over that hurdle of the dominance that they had against us. As for the skins rivalry, that will always be there. And we look foward to a little revenge next year.

With all due respect, there is NOTHING good about the Commanders beating the Cowboys...........NOTHING!

The rivalry is returning.

It was a sleepy rivalry for a long while now when we were winning all the time.

But the first game against the Skins has haunted us all year and I think caused us problems all season. It was also the most painful loss to fathom.

The second game was just an embarassment and depending on how the playoffs unfold it could be just enough to put this great rivalry back on the bonfire.

Congrats to your team but I still think as a result your team is being a lil overrated while we are being a lil underrated.

I think both franchises are at best mediocre and will remain that way for some time. We have no QB of the future, our defense is young and may or may not get better in the future-if not, we will not even be mediocre. The offensive line is in shambles and it will take at least two offseasons to even get it into decent shape. The WR corps is old and getting more and more injury prone. The running backs are handcuffed by the awful offensive line so who knows if they are any good or not. Honestly, Jones appears to be a one-year wonder to me while Barber looks like he could be a four or five year starter, but probably not a great superstar type back. The kicking situation is junk. The only real playmaker on the entire team is the tight end which is just a horrible situation. The assistant coaches are a joke and the head coaches position is up in the air-who knows when that guy will just walk away.

As for the Commanders, I don't think they have a QB of the future- I believe Campbell will be a major league turd, so I believe they are in a similar boat in that respect (just my opinion). They do have a good defense, but it it more about scheme than it is playmakers. Offensive line is good, running backs are good, WRs are very overrated, the only one worth having is Moss and he's one hard hit away from paralysis due to his size-luckily for him Gibbs can scheme around that and make him a Gary Clark clone. As for the future, the Commanders have somewhat mortgaged it with bad draft picks and lack of draft picks- the time to win for them is now as I only see them getting worse. Also, coaching stability, as in Dallas will become an issue because Gibbs will not be there long- be it burn out, run out, or poor health. However, they have a huge edge in assistant coaches.

So, to bring a ray of sunshine into your day I don't think either team is set up for the long haul. You do still have a chance this year, but I think they would get drilled pretty easily by any team in the AFC playoffs and by the Giants or Seahawks or Panthers on their home fields.

I agree with you for the most part, except the Jones part. Don't forget that Barber is looking like JJ did last year.

The difference that I see this year is that the play that was JJ's bread & butter is now being given to Barber....the draw. Look at any long run of JJ's last year and odds are it was a draw.

Why they aren't giving that to JJ this year and are to Barber for the most part is beyond me.

I agree.. there is NOTHING to be gained by losing to the Skins...

I was at both games, the one in Dallas and the one in DC this past week. There is no way that the Skins proved they were the better team in Dallas. NO WAY. They were dominated and got out of there by the skin of their teeth on two miraculous plays by Moss and some horrific coverage by the Dallas secondary.

The game in Washington though? The Skins dominated every facet of the game, head to toe. Right now they ARE the better team. Earlier in the season, they were the LUCKIER team.

I went to the game last sunday and let me tell you, did I get an ear full and it was no fun at all. There were about a dozen or so cowboy fans in my section(club level) and they were all getting bashed too. It wasn't helping that I was wearing a blue jersey as was my fiance'. I can't stand there fans, very rude w/the cursing and the racial comments(calling us cracker, kkk, etc....) It was shocking how low people would go and it just left a bad taste in my mouth and I was looking for the exits at halftime. It even got worse while walking to our car, I had these 2 african american gentlmen assault us. One pushed me from behind into a car and I turned around and caved his knee in w/ my heel. I hate the Commanders and there racial fans now more than ever and I will never ever go to another Commanders cowboys game in DC. They took the rivalry too far. Next time I'm flying to Dallas to watch them play.

I really don't care much about the rivalry. I just want my team to win. If there is only thing that makes my dislike for the Commanders team greater than any other team, it's the fact that I live in DC and have to listen to the radio or news go on and on about a Commanders victory.

Was one of them that old 80 year old fool that dresses up in a head dress and acts like he's going to scalp folks?

As an African-American, I want to apologize on their behalf. I don't want this thread to become something else. I am thoroughly insulted that you were treated that way. Most of my family members are Cowboy fans. The others are Commanders. It's a shame that a handful of idiots represent the whole negatively.

I'm sorry.

LOL! You are probably a better sport about it than me. I live in the Baltimore/DC area so I have to endure the hatred all the year 'round.

Thats really sad. Im sorry about that, Its sad that some fans act that way. No matter what, no matter how much I hate the Cowboys I would never resort to vulgarness or violence, I beleive our Commander fanbase as a WHOLE is better than that. Sorry that you encountered some of the rough bunch, its not right.

Washington is playing better now than Dallas is. The Cowboys have been hit harder with injuries to more key positions (LT, CB, #1 RB, #1LB, #2LB) than Washington has. Before those injuries Dallas was a better team, but those are the breaks.

Still, anything can happen especially once the emotion Washington played with settles down. Last Sunday was a game where everything went right for Washington and nothing went right for Dallas. That game was not the way things will play out the rest of the year, it was just one game.
