Gaither could be available for less than first round pick

Time is running out for teams to sign restricted free agent Ravens tackle Jared Gaither to an offer sheet, but he may be available for less than his first round tender.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, citing two Ravens sources, said Monday an offer of a "high second round" pick would get a team's foot in the door.

La Canfora suggests the Commanders as a possibility. If Washington didn't draft a tackle in the first round, they could potentially send their second round pick for Gaither.

There would be no April 15 deadline to sign Gaither to an offer sheet because it would be a straight trade.

By all accounts, Gaither played like a quality starting left tackle last year. That's why it's surprising Baltimore seems so open to moving him.

I was never on board with our 1st round pick but if the price is dropping I can get interested.

Which is exactly why I wouldn't trade a high pick for him. You don't hear alot of NFL teams trading away a young, starting caliber, left tackle. Makes no sense, unless thers a medical, or character problem.

I'd rather just wait till next year in free agency, and possibly get him for no compensation. Also it would give us a chance to look at Free and Brewster. We might not even need him.

Very true. It's not like our OL is horrible. Just one horrible game, due to injuries and not enough depth.

Yes, there is the age factor, but as you said, one more year and see what we have. Could find a few OL in this years draft.

I think id make that trade because I like what we got out of Davis and so many so called experts said he wasnt worth the effort and he has been great here in Dallas, so i think i would do it.

ravens are begging a team to take him and or his money off their books.

Flo is a better player, and Free will be a better player.

Screw Gaither.

Adams is a perennial probowler.

It isnt crazy.

Gaither is just some name alot of people are enfatuated with. If he played for the Raiders or Chiefs, none of you people wouldnt want him, or even mention him.

Pro Bowl don't mean squat. Gaither is better at this point in his career.

If Dallas could trade Flo for Gaither straight up they would.

You know this how exactly? I mean, do you watch the Ravens week in and week out?

I doubt many people in the league think Gaither is anywhere near as good as some of you do, including the team he plays for now.
