This is actually pretty big going into TC.

Last year, he didn't even know when he was going to be ready. Game 1, but we all knew that was not going to happen. But game 3 or game 8, when was he really going to be physically ready. Then the mental part, feeling 100% ready.

Well he has been through the 2022 season, and a full off-season program and going into 2023 TC .... mentally ready as well.

His and a couple of other players had to wait for time on the sideline. Redshirting is no where near what it is professionally. A touchie feelie process and always headed to rehab as long as the sun comes up. Thank goodness is is able to unwind and contribute again. Lord knows he's ready to make a real difference once again!

I always think that an ACL especially for a positional player that needs to changes direction, the primary issue is the mental affects. Even the slightest doubt that the knee may give way takes away from the full concentration needed to catch the ball.

That's a load off me mind.

I was mentally ready and posted he wasn't going to be a contributor until at least week 8. Well I was wrong. He was never really ready. This may get added to the list of bad moves. He has to seriously step up and earn that paycheck. It's on the list for me. I wouldn't have extended him. He's mostly a JAG.

SMH... How is Gallup a JAG?

After his rookie year in 2018 where Gallup caught 33 receptions for 507 yards and 2 TDs, he more than doubled his results his 2nd year with 66 receptions for 1,107 yards and 6 TDs. He suffered his 3rd year when Dak went down during Week 5 with a season-ending leg injury, yet Gallup still caught 59 passes for 843 yards and 5 TDs. Far from JAG material after having the football thrown to him by real JAG backup QBs. In 2021, he only caught 35 receptions for 445 yards and only 2 TDs due to suffering a season-ending torn ACL, and he equaled the same results in 2022 when he clearly was not anywhere close to being fully healed from his ACL injury. Today in 2023, he's finally fully healed and even boasted how he feels so much better with even a bounce in his step. Michael Gallup is ready to produce as a good #2 or #3 WR. If he stays healthy, I say Gallup will grab 55+ receptions for 800+ yards and 5+ TDs. That's far from JAG material.

Gonna need him at 100% both physically and mentally so we can make a deep run this year

could he be this teams “Alvin Harper” and make those big 3rd down receptions when CeeDee and Cooks are covered?……

The mental part of an injury is certainly a big factor. They have to put that injury behind them before they can be 100%

I agree we shouldn’t have extended him. I think he is slightly above jag status. With Lamb and Cook, we shouldnt be paying a #3 that much.

I could have replaced him and the salary for less money and gotten better production and better plan for the future. Pretty bad signing IMO

Let's hope Gallup is finally mentally ready, and ready to earn his big paycheck of $11.5m AAV. Forced the Cowboys to pay Cooks big money as well due to his still questionable readiness. And now Lamb seeking his big contract. That's a lot of dough going to the WRs.....Gallup may be the one left out and don't expect big numbers that justify that big contract. But i get the warm and fuzzies he is mentally ready now.

He's a no 3 receiver always has been. Hopefully he can handle it.

Really?

So Michael Gallup& Brandon cooks together doesn't equal the 22 million we would have had to pay Amari Cooper had he stayed here and yet still controversial that he left even though we needed the cap money and he was slipping to the number two wide receiver can't pay a number two wide receiver 22 million can we? But we can pay our number two and our number 3 less than 22 million together,

I'd say that's a better deal...

And by the way CD lambs contract is not due today not long enough they still have plenty of time and they can always franchise tag the guy.... I say that Michael Gallup and Brandon cooks have a very team friendly deals... As a matter of fact I don't remember the details but Michael Gallup restructured his contract and so did Brandon cooks I don't know what they came out to but they made this year's cap hit much less,.
on Gallup:"The move saves Dallas roughly $7 million against its books, dropping Gallup's cap hit from just over $13.8 million to around $6.4 million, according to OverTheCap.com."

Cooks; They will turn $8 million of Cooks' $12 million base salary into a signing bonus, Todd Archer of ESPN reports. His salary now is $4 million. Cooks will count $6 million against the Cowboys' salary cap. Cooks is under contract through 2024 with a base salary of $8 million next season.

id say your statement doesn't hold water as the front office made these restructures and moves in order to have the money to sign Travon diggs and other players. They've been pretty smart lately with this and I'm pretty sure they got it handled.
