I reviewed 4 of the 5 starters (No need to review Zack Martin).

I reviewed all of the blocking plays by the TEs.
  • I watch 1 player then rewind the play and watch the next player, etc..
    • Then proceed to the next snap.
  • For many snaps I rewind multiple times per player depending on the play.
  • Unsung hero of the game: Matt Farniok
    • Farniok was better in this game than McGovern was in any of his 4 starts in 2021.
    • Farniok was far from perfect, but he was good relative to expectations...
    • Better than expected for his 1st ever NFL start.
  • Tyler Smith
    • Very good overall.
    • Some mistakes, but La'el made more mistakes per game in 2021...
    • Tyler makes it look easy physically.
    • His power is off the charts.
    • His athleticism is very good, especially relative to his size/power.
  • Steele
    • Very good game.
    • He is a much smarter player than La'el.
    • He has good power. More powerful than last season.
  • Biadasz
    • Good enough.
    • Looked better than last season.
    • Had to play vs monster DT D.J. Reader on many snaps.
    • Had a really good play where he pulled out into the flat and made a key block.
  • Farniok
    • Definitely good enough.
    • He showed surprising power vs 340 pound DT Josh Tupou.
    • He also fared well overall on a few 1-on-1 snaps vs monster DT D.J. Reader.
    • He is 'chippy' showing a bit of tough guy type attitude.
    • When he did made a mistake, it generally didn't automatically kill the play like a penalty would.
  • TE Jake Ferguson
    • Make some really good blocks and was consistent as a blocker.
    • He looks very confident.
    • Shows good awareness & understanding of the scheme.
    • Good on the Pollard goalline run.
  • TE Payton Hendershot
    • This guy has an in your face attitude.
    • I saw it in the preseason and again in his few snaps in this game.
    • Good on the Pollard goalline run.
  • TE Dalton Schultz
    • Meh.
    • He makes a few good blocks showing that he can do it at times.
    • However, he often leaves a lot to be desired as a blocker.
    • I question his effort on some blocking plays.
    • Overall there is just something squirrelly about him.
    • Sometimes makes me think of the "Finesse LB" comment about Bobbie Carpenter...
  • FB Luke Gifford
    • LB Gifford was a FB for 1 snap on the Pollard goalline TD run.
    • He looked ok. They ran behind his block.
  • OL Summary
    • The young OLinemen made some really good blocks on the big near-TD play by Pollard.
    • They all made some high degree of difficult run blocks in this game (reach blocks, etc..)
    • They also had some really good blocks on another of Pollards's best runs.
  • TE Blocking Summary
    • They gave the easy backside blocking assignment to Schultz on the Pollard goalline TD run.
      • Pollard ran behind good blocks by Ferguson and Hendershot.
    • Overall I thought Ferguson looked better than Schultz as a blocker.

Farniok was far and away the worst OL. Any praise for him is homerism.

Anybody that says McGovern in 2021 or Connor Williams in 2021 were noticeably better than Farniok in the Bengals game are morons.

I would be very concerned if Farniok was not the 5th best OLinemen in the Bengals game.
- Tyler Smith is a 1st round pick and the other 3 are experienced veteran players.
- Farniok was making his 1st NFL start.

Farniok's 1st start looked better than the 1st starts by Biadasz, Steele, McGovern and Connor Williams.

Lol the only moron is you for trying to praise farniok.

You went out of your way to praise him and realistically he's just been terrible and we can't wait to replace him fast enough.

this is hilarious. Farniok gets a pass and you hammer Biadasz for his early mistakes.

I haven’t gone to the lengths you have, but just based on what I saw of the game, live, Farniok seemed to be an upgrade over what we have had there the past two years.

It’s good to hear TB is playing a little bit better. He seems only serviceable and I sure wish we had Creed Humphrey in his spot rather than the rapping CB.

Great breakdown. Dallas offense should run, run , run vs NYG. These OL make really good run blocks and KM should play to their strengths. Glad to hear the progress of Fergy as a block, and I do notice Shultz refuses to block, even DBs...time to replace him with some guys who want it. Still wonder how Peters fits with these guys, as they've exceeded my expectations.

I agree with all of your assessments. The people who complain about Farniok saw one play where Reader pushed him around but ignored all the other plays, especially in the first half, where Farniok was pushing the Bengals defense back. If you watch him he struggles with some of the line games but when he is one on one with a guy, he gets the job done most of the time. People need to keep in mind he is a first year starter. He has basically 2 games under his belt. Remember Biadasz getting pushed around early last season. He leveled out by the end of the season and looks must better this season. Farniok will be that player too in time. He has not been that bad these last two games.

I also agree about Schultz. He is bad blocking for a TE. Ferguson already looks like a better blocker.

More than just being pushed back once. He's absolutely horrendous in pass blocking. Not sure what you and the OP are watching but he's been the worst lineman, by far, both games.

Pff has his overall at 36, half of Tyler bia lol

Biadasz was suppose to be a steal in the fourth round, but we have a 7th rounder playing close to his level already in Farniok. So, if Farniok and Ferguson aren't starters next year, I'd be seriously disappointed.

Glad to hear the progress of Fergy as a block, and I do notice Shultz refuses to block, even DBs...time to replace him with some guys who want it. Still wonder how Peters fits with these guys, as they've exceeded my expectations.
Peters will likely play at some point but I don't know when or what position.

They said he practiced multiple positions which points to being active but being a backup this week.

They only had rookie udfa Lindstrom as the interior backup last week. Or they could have moved Tyler inside with Waletzko or Ball at LT.

Steele looked rough his first year too so I guess anything is possible but I also know XWalker has a soft spot for backup linemen. He tried to convince us Josh Ball was a stud in the making this offseason. I wouldn’t read too much into this. If the Cowboys are giving Peters reps primarily at LG, that’s all you need to know on what position they’re worried about right now. What Tyler Smith did was not easy, I give the young buck huge kudos for stepping in like that and not losing his pants. Sad to see Tyron go but we have a replacement ready now.

Excellent summary, and bullet points.

Agree with you on Hendershot. Still waiting for him to break out and prove his doubters wrong. He's already ready.
