I wouldn’t read too much into this.
If the Cowboys are giving Peters reps primarily at LG, that’s all you need to know on what position they’re worried about right now.
If Peters had practiced only at LT, that would have the same meaning about Farniok as Peters practicing at LG.
- Regardless of which spot Peters plays, Tyler Smith will play the other spot.
- Do you understand now why your comment is is nonsensical?

I posted a week before the draft that Tyler Smith would be a terrific option for the Cowboys in the 1st round.
- There is a strong indication at this point that I was correct.

this is hilarious. Farniok gets a pass and you hammer Biadasz for his early mistakes.
I didn't hammer Biadasz in this thread...

I also posted in the past that Biadasz had the 2nd best performance of the 5 OLinemen in the playoff game.
- Tyron's ankle was a big problem and caused him to have a sub-par performance.
- Neither Connor Williams or La'el were very good in that game.

Absolutely foolish comment. Shows how you don't understand what you're watching. Farniok was very good.
He was really bad, easily the worst of the 5.

If you say otherwise, your blind love is misleading you.

If you Google it, others agree with me. Pff graded him at 36.

Blogging the boys has an article about him being really bad.

I watched the game, he was noticeably the weakest link.

All of you never played on the Oline, much less starred playing it, so how in the hell are y'all going to know what you're watching???

Absolutely foolish nonsense.

PFF is used by fans that don't have the ability to review game footage themselves and understand it.

Blogging the Boys are just repeating the PFF grade.

It has been proven repeatedly that weekly PFF player grades are garbage.
- PFF goes back and adjust their grades at some point before the end of the season.
- If a player they grade really low makes the Pro Bowl or All Pro, they quietly change the grades.

The comment that Farniok was the weakest link sounds moronic.
- He should be the weakest link.
- Tyler is a 1st round pick and the other 3 are veteran players.

Our line will be better when he's back on the bench.

Steele looked rough his first year too so I guess anything is possible but I also know XWalker has a soft spot for backup linemen. He tried to convince us Josh Ball was a stud in the making this offseason. I wouldn’t read too much into this. If the Cowboys are giving Peters reps primarily at LG, that’s all you need to know on what position they’re worried about right now. What Tyler Smith did was not easy, I give the young buck huge kudos for stepping in like that and not losing his pants. Sad to see Tyron go but we have a replacement ready now.

The thing about it is, everyone is wrong sometimes. Even the best evaluators are oftentimes wrong.

I've found that sometimes listening to other people's view of things will help give you insight on what you really think. It's OK to criticize someone's point of view, but pointing to a time when they were wrong to say that their opinion might not be valid is a fallacy in my opinion. It's possible to be wrong on one assessment, but be correct on another. Evaluating players is more about overall analysis. There's no one good way to measure it to be successful. So, you have to go on other ways of coming to a conclusion.

If I were basing my opinion on xwalker's track record, I would say that he also liked Tyler Smith as a draft pick, personally, as well as considering he was a possible pick. And he ended up being correct on that. So you win some, you lose some. Happens to us all.

I’m still waiting for the day @xwalker does one of his “tape breakdowns” and has anything critical to say about the Cowboys at all. It’s positive literally every time

I reviewed 4 of the 5 starters (No need to review Zack Martin).

I reviewed all of the blocking plays by the TEs.
  • I watch 1 player then rewind the play and watch the next player, etc..
    • Then proceed to the next snap.
  • For many snaps I rewind multiple times per player depending on the play.
  • Unsung hero of the game: Matt Farniok
    • Farniok was better in this game than McGovern was in any of his 4 starts in 2021.
    • Farniok was far from perfect, but he was good relative to expectations...
    • Better than expected for his 1st ever NFL start.
  • Tyler Smith
    • Very good overall.
    • Some mistakes, but La'el made more mistakes per game in 2021...
    • Tyler makes it look easy physically.
    • His power is off the charts.
    • His athleticism is very good, especially relative to his size/power.
  • Steele
    • Very good game.
    • He is a much smarter player than La'el.
    • He has good power. More powerful than last season.
  • Biadasz
    • Good enough.
    • Looked better than last season.
    • Had to play vs monster DT D.J. Reader on many snaps.
    • Had a really good play where he pulled out into the flat and made a key block.
  • Farniok
    • Definitely good enough.
    • He showed surprising power vs 340 pound DT Josh Tupou.
    • He also fared well overall on a few 1-on-1 snaps vs monster DT D.J. Reader.
    • He is 'chippy' showing a bit of tough guy type attitude.
    • When he did made a mistake, it generally didn't automatically kill the play like a penalty would.
  • TE Jake Ferguson
    • Make some really good blocks and was consistent as a blocker.
    • He looks very confident.
    • Shows good awareness & understanding of the scheme.
    • Good on the Pollard goalline run.
  • TE Payton Hendershot
    • This guy has an in your face attitude.
    • I saw it in the preseason and again in his few snaps in this game.
    • Good on the Pollard goalline run.
  • TE Dalton Schultz
    • Meh.
    • He makes a few good blocks showing that he can do it at times.
    • However, he often leaves a lot to be desired as a blocker.
    • I question his effort on some blocking plays.
    • Overall there is just something squirrelly about him.
    • Sometimes makes me think of the "Finesse LB" comment about Bobbie Carpenter...
  • FB Luke Gifford
    • LB Gifford was a FB for 1 snap on the Pollard goalline TD run.
    • He looked ok. They ran behind his block.
  • OL Summary
    • The young OLinemen made some really good blocks on the big near-TD play by Pollard.
    • They all made some high degree of difficult run blocks in this game (reach blocks, etc..)
    • They also had some really good blocks on another of Pollards's best runs.
  • TE Blocking Summary
    • They gave the easy backside blocking assignment to Schultz on the Pollard goalline TD run.
      • Pollard ran behind good blocks by Ferguson and Hendershot.
    • Overall I thought Ferguson looked better than Schultz as a blocker.

What frustrates me about Schultz is he came into the league a better blocker than pass catcher. It seems he put his effort into becoming a better receiver, but ignored blocking. It's not the worst idea on his part, because stats will get him paid. As a fan it angers me though, because he's capable.

like the write up but i Know this isn't popular but if Peters comes in at LG why not move Farniok to C? I do not want tyler moved, thats for sure. LT of the future, the future is NOW, good or bad like Aikman/Tyrone as rookies, let him learn from every game.

as much as i think TB is steady Eddie pretty solid if this is his ceiling , some are saying we gave up on Cwil not getting a shot at C given his MIA debut maybe was a mistake, so IF Farniok has a higher ceiling , lets find out now. TB can be swing G/C.

Anybody that says McGovern in 2021 or Connor Williams in 2021 were noticeably better than Farniok in the Bengals game are morons.

I would be very concerned if Farniok was not the 5th best OLinemen in the Bengals game.
- Tyler Smith is a 1st round pick and the other 3 are experienced veteran players.
- Farniok was making his 1st NFL start.

Farniok's 1st start looked better than the 1st starts by Biadasz, Steele, McGovern and Connor Williams.
I told him the same and he tried to infere a question of whether I had even experienced junior high football...yep, a class level ring tapper full of self...

Nice write up, really enjoy the more detailed break down on the players.
Question, have you ever worked for pay in any football capacity?
Or, are you just a serious fan of the game?
