I think that's a red herring. If he had I wouldn't have a had a problem with it, but I understand why he didn't. Imo the real issue was the previous play. I would never have thrown the ball on 2nd an 2. At a minimum make them burn that last timeout or watch us run 40 seconds off the clock. .
that's what faced them and it's no Red Herring. Dak ran it in?
there's lots of football people that agree with all ways take the points

What faced them?

They were forced into a situation where they had to throw a fade on 2nd and 2?

I mean it's patently obvious why people want to focus on the Dak run and this notion a small number of people floated about sliding at the one. It's easier to refute that thinking than defend a fade on 2nd and 2 as a really great play call.

Here's a better way to think about it. There are a variety of ways the Cowboys could have gone on 2nd and 2. They could have run it, they could have run the read option play they used on 3rd and 2, they could have run a safer, higher percentage pass play, etc.

Instead, they chose the one play that could be used in that situation that had the highest probability of resulting in a bad result for the Cowboys. All passes can fall incomplete or get intercepted, true. But they chose the one in that situation that historically has the highest rate of resulting in an incompletion.

And the absolute last thing you wanted to happen in that spot, other than a turnover, was an incompletion and clock stoppage for the Packers.

Those negative things apply to a pass as well, and the list is longer: A sack, a fumble, an interception, a penalty, not running any time off the clock.

All of that is true, but you are still trying to score, first and foremost. That means if the defense gives you a favorable look, you take advantage of it by going with the play that gives you the best chance to score. You don't ever take for granted that you can just score later.

I wouldn't have thrown the ball, but I can't condemn Dak or the staff for going with a play that was favorable against the defensive look.
