The story of nepotism and the Garrett family pyramid scheme starts with their father Jim Garrett.

Jim Garrett was the head coach at Columbia. His team was 0-10 and he was fired after a lot of allegations of abuse. He had been previously fired for assaulting a player at a previous school. All three sons played for him and after he was fired they transferred to Princeton. He was a scout for the Cowboys from 1987 to 2004. Keep this in mind as the story unfolds.

Jason claim to fame ironically was snapping a 44 game losing streak to his old team, Columbia.

Judd was a jag of a player much like his brothers Jason and John.

At some point, he is hired on as a minor coach on the Dolphins. The Dolphins then sign Jason Garrett as an inactive backup QB towards the end of 2004. Then quickly hire him as a QB coach (a job Judd previously had).

Jason after two years as a QB coach is suddenly hired on to become Jerry Jones' offensive coordinator before a head coach is even hired. Yes, that's right remember Garrett's full resume as a coach before becoming an offensive coordinator was 2 years as a QB coach for the Dolphins, where he developed a string of hall of fame QBs (except he didn't).

Jason turns around and sinks Wade Phillips' offense so he can get the job as head coach and refuses to hire any experienced coordinators for a number of years before he is forced to do so with Kiffin and Callahan. He drives both of them out (Kiffin deserved it), but is saddled with Marinelli. He is able to bring former Dolphins offensive coordinator Linehan into the mix.

Along the line, the Garrett family nepotism continued. He returned the favor and hired Judd Garrett who is now our head of pro scouting (which we're awful at). Judd has no experience as a scout.

He also hired and promoted brother John Garrett from tight ends coach to passing game coordinator before being forced to fire him. John later took a position as a WR coach in Tampa, where he lasted all of one year.

He then became the offensive coordinator for the Oregon State football where he lasted all of one year.

Two years later he became the offensive coordinator for the Richmond Spiders, where he lasted all of one year.

He then became the head coach at Lafayette college where his record was 3-8.

All the Garretts at some point have played for the Cowboys, although only two for Jerry Jones.

They all went to Princeton, and they are all conmen.

They've created a relationship with Jones and that relationship supersedes the outcomes on the field. None of them have ever been remotely qualified for anything.

Hence my post earlier this week:
Garrett had zero qualifications/experience to be an NFL-level OC. The Garrett family "Sham-Wowed" the hell out of the Jones'.

The Garretts have swindle their way around the college and NFL circuit, but eventually their con gets exposed and they get fired. Bouncing around for a new host every couple of years, they finally dug their hooks into the big one: Jerry Jones. For some strange reason, their game's staying power with Jerry is reaching a David Koresh/The Clintons level.

I got news for ya. NFL coaching staffs are full of cronyism. Blame this on the guy cutting the check, not the fraud that is cashing it.

Which is the one real defensible reason for the Rooney rule.

So, you're saying we need to send a Terminator robot back in time and whack a baby Jim Garrett in his crib before he can procreate and infect American football with all their vile "Garrettness"?

JG should coach in the Ivy League......he is perfect for that level

He wouldn't have success there either.

He was able to build success on the Cowboys because he inherited Tony Romo and was able to spend tremendous resources on offense...

Three first round draft picks on the offensive line.
Lucked into a player who would have been a 1st round draft pick.
A first round draft pick at running back.
A Hall of Fame tight end that he inherited.
A first round wide receiver.

He lucked into Jonathan Cooper as well and nearly ruined that (certainly didn't optimize the situation).

He thought he lucked into Dak Prescott and felt like he found another QB to carry the burden of his incompetence for another decade, but Dak can't shoulder that. He isn't good enough.

.

Is there a link or something for that? Those are some pretty serious allegations.

Sounds like a match made in...somewhere. Stephen Jones is as qualified to be the CEO of the Dallas Cowboys as I am, but I'm not Jerry's son.

That's how the world works, unfortunately.

Meritocracy? Don't talk to me about meritocracy. Are you kidding me? Meritocracy?

Haha the worst player on there is the first rounder...

Which isn't a surprise. Any first rounder can be a bust.

Jason Garrett has been head coach since 2011.

Since then we've only drafted defensive players in the 1st round, three times.

Seven of the patriots' last 8 1st rounders have all been on defense...
