Garrett just said Romo checked out of a run on the INT

Well I'll still say what I've always said: Whether it be poker playing or floor trading or play calling -- offense or defense -- feel, instinct, whatever you want to call it, has a lot to do with success. That's why some playcallers are better than others even using the exact same playbook. It's part of the overall talent the job requires, along with identifying talent, running the team during the week, managing personalities, and a hundred other things. It's a very complex job and only a few are truly good at it.

And how do you know who has that rare talent? Darwinism -- they prove themselves as they produce and move up through the ranks. Ten years ago, would anyone have been able to identify via resume or alma mater or geography that a Gus Malzahn would be a great offensive coach? No way. But you don't have to hope you can identify that guy a decade in advance, you can let him earn his way up through the ranks through the production he demonstrates. Garrett never had to earn that. He was just a hope and a prayer from the old wildcatter.

Garrett never earned jack, I agree......................................it was a stupid decision by Jerry that wasted several prime seasons of our star players..............we can never get that back.

That's what I hate the most. You can say Romo is rich and has a beautiful wife and a great life, so why feel sorry for him. But I think he really wants to win before he's done. I hate that we're not giving him the best chance to do that.

Let me preface this by saying that Garrett is still a failure. His lack of control over Romo is going to be his undoing.

Romo, however, is a "coach-killer". The same way Mike Vick ultimately let down Andy Reid in Philly. If Reid would have benched Vick instead of trying to hedge his bets on him I think Reid would still be in Philly. Romo is a good player but after watching him do these self destructive plays I've come to a harsh reality and sad one. As much as Romo desires to win a Super Bowl and as much as I want him to win one it just isn't going to happen with him. He can make some miracle, unbelievable plays and combacks but then he also makes the boneheaded ones that warrant the criticism. These guys, the "coach-killers" seem to give the team, the coaches, and the fans enough evidence to the contrary that they can pull it off or win the big one but then always find a way to let them down in the end. Stats are stats and you can cite them until your blue in the face but it always comes down to making the plays and getting that win and that's one stat that isn't misleading.

This loss tonight is another painful reminder of that. Coaching is a part of that but it isn't the sole reason because Romo has changed plays from run calls only as far back as 2009.

As this mediocre team keeps losing in ways that are remarkable I'm starting to understand why Parcells left this team. He'd be the first to tell you that a franchise needs a QB to lead this team. It's why he brought his guys to the team in an effort to influence the younger guys with his coaching beliefs. Romo apologists will tell you that Parcells should have given him the chance earlier in his career instead of trying to use his guys but then again Parcells knew what it took and maybe, just maybe that loss in Seattle was all he needed to know about Romo.

Exactly. Jerry felt comfortable with him and also liked the idea of furthering his own ego by "discovering" the next big football talent. Red had less than 5 years of coaching experience let alone HEAD coaching experience...thats crazy.
