I would say everything you cited as examples are due to poor coaching besides Lee and McClain. Lee's problem is not a product of coaching but his body not being able to withstand the NFL. McClain is worthless. You can't coach someone who doesn't care.

But Wilcox taking the bad angle and whiffing- yes that's coaching because that's an ongoing problem with him. Why can't they look at film and point out the bad angle from all the other times he does it and correct it. either he is a moron who can't learn from his mistakes or the teacher/coach is not helping him learn. If he's a moron then get rid of him and get someone that can be coached.

I bet they are doing that. how do you know they haven't talked about that with him? is marinelli that stupid? but the player is what he is. not smart. can't see it. can't adjust. how come Byron jones does it? and he is a rookie?

which brings me down to the actual source of the problem. our drafts outside of 1st round have been awful. when was the last time we had an impact player drafted in 2nd round and below? Murray.....that's about it. the rest are just Jags....we have not drafted one in a long time.

Crawford, Mincy, Lawrence- yes I would again say coaching just because they are not living up to their "potential", or at least the potential that we are lead to believe they have. I believe that these guys are underperforming and underperforming on a consistent basis, like this whole year, is on the coaches.

I am disappointed in all three. but they are what they are. you can only coach up so much, hardy is the only consistent performer.

You know at some point you have to look at the fact that Jerry is an outstanding salesman and business man. What if all these players just plain suck? What if all these coaches just plain suck? Jerry is smart enough to get people to buy things. I'm starting to wonder if we have bought into the idea that Garrett, Marinelli, Wilcox, Crawford, Lawrence, Hitchens, Claiborne, Carr, that other DT, are all good players/coaches in the NFL and in reality they just suck.

that point has passed us by 15 years ago. Jerry is a terrible GM. but he will not relinquish the GM position and as a result he is in conflict with the owner (which is himself obviously). Jerry wanted to draft manziel!!! why because he would sell tickets...like you said, his business man side took over his brain...10 years ago, that would have been the pick...last year, with his son taking more charge, it didn't happen.

and to your point, all on that list suck.

So my point is, is I don't disagree with the OP, but I'm starting to feel like we've been conned. Conned into thinking that this is a good team by Jerry. Once his Ace of Spades went down the con was exposed for what it is. And what it is, is a coach that doesn't belong in this league, A defensive coordinator that has his players underperforming, a defense that can't get turnovers, and overall just a bunch players that are not up to par with the rest of the league. Coaches and players alike maybe just plain suck and we fall for it every year.

I feel like the only players that could be starters on other teams are: Romo, Witten, the whole oline minus Free, Bryant, maybe Williams and Beasely in his slot role. On defense- Hardy, Lee (only if healthy), Irving,

But Escobar, Hanna, The rest of the dline, the entire secondary, linebackers, Clutts, McFadden (even though he played well yesterday). All these other guys we have been conned into thinking they're good but really they would be no one on any other teams. Why do we expect them to be good? Because we know their names? Jerry is a salesman and he sold us fools gold. Romo goes down and we are exposed for what we are. Sucks

But I also strongly agree with your point about the drafts. They've been awful. Also for discussion sake lets say Marinelli is a good coach. Well Marinelli has proven to be a good coach. So as a part of our bad drafting. Do we draft stupid players? Do we draft physically gifted but mentally challenged players? I can see an argument the coaches are good coaches but our players are just too dumb to understand adjustments, angles or whatever. Our players make a lot of mental mistakes, is that coaching or just stupid players making stupid plays.

I believe John Wooden. And yes, I blame the coaches.

I see jones making the right plays, taking the right angles and for a rookie he is in the right place...Wilcox has been underwhelming for 2 years now.

Being conned by Jerry should not come as a surprise. We have been dealing with this for >20 years....

our defense has immensely under performed. in 4 of the 6 losses we scored 20, 27, 28, 20. with your elite QB missing, those should be good enough to win, specially with the investment made on that side of the ball. its the 6th game of the year we have gone without turnover. we have had 1 sack in two games, one against the worst OL in football and last night Philly had to subs at tackle.....and the best DL was Irvin!!!

You make good points. Evan when we disagree I do not forget to remember that you are a great fan.

As to the defense, let me add this: I think me and our fellow fans half learned some bitter lessons.
1st ist the myth that McClain, the batterer Hardy, Crawford and young additions would turn us into a top tier defense.

Also half there ever been a more overrated LB like. Lee? Even when healthy, waaaay too many RBs whiz by him.

Marinade is largely a victim off overhyped underpreforming personnel.

Our seconday bend, bend, bend. Constantly.
Do I half the answer?

No.

Butt mein No. 1 recommendation ist to excise Garrett and until we get new coaches, ist to make them accountable, as in heads will role.

they were leaking before that. We have to remember last year Dallas offense was on the field most of time. This defense is not used to playing that many minutes. They struggle with it if Lee is in the game or out.

Stats say that is not true, Dallas #1 with time of Possession again this year.
