The more I think about it...Garrett could be a coach that JJ stays out of his way. He really likes and respect him...enough I believe for him to have Jimmy Johnson control.

Well, not really - but it sounded good.

Lets hope he is more Jimmy and less Barry and Chan the other two he played for at Dallas. Remember he went to a Super Bowl with the NYG's back in 2000, bound to have learned something from the hard nose HC Jim Fassel.

started off nice considering Jerry is boozing it up in Vegas

He may or may not be the answer @ Head Coach but is he the answer @ Offensive Coordinator?

Exactly. Unless he's willing to check his ego and let someone else call the plays, this team isn't going to improve all that much.

If Garrett were taking over under better circumstances Jerry might give him more leeway than a lot of coaches, but with the team so far in the toilet Jerry's nose will be in the middle of everything. It may not be all that noticeable because I think Jerry wont want to publically undermine Garrett's ability to assert himself as the new head coach, but he will be bending Garrett's ear and be informed of, and in on everything that happens.

Jerry really loves Garrett and he will look like a genius if Garrett works out. For those reasons, I feel Jerry will do everything possible to give Garrett what he needs to be successful, including being responsive to Garrett's opinion on matters. Additionally, from what I have seen of Garrett he appears to be someone who will do everything in his power to get the tools he needs to get the job done. This to me is a real good combination for success in Dallas.

Now hopefully Garrett will make a difference in the interim basis or it won't matter how much Jerry loves him.

Remember who his offensive coordinator was too: Sean Payton.

he is the answer. that was not Jerry, look at that picture and then look at a picture that you know is really Jerry.

It's a cycle... Jerry gives a coach power for 3-4 years then gets miserable and has to put his stamp on everything because his ego just can't handle another person having success with his "toy".

Then after a few years of a Jerry controlled puppet the team slips back into chaos. I fear this will continue until Jerry dies. We just have to be lucky and get another super-bowl within the Jerry "Oops" window which unfortunately isn't as long as the Jerry "Power-trip" window...History does repeat itself unfortunately.
