Jason Garrett press conference: the biggest thing they did yesterday was try to create a normal work week, like out at Valley Ranch.
Garrett PC: Romo participated in yesterday's walkthrough; will not practice. #RomoWednesday
Garrett PC: Anticipate Free and Leary practicing.
Garrett PC: We'll see about Rolando and Tyrone Crawford will not practice.
Garrett PC: Parnell has done a good job as a pass protector and run blockers, but still has room for improvement.
Garrett PC: Romo will be back at the hotel getting treatment. He will not be at practice.
Garrett PC: Dealing with injuries is always gray. It's never black and white.
Garrett PC: Mincey has done a nice job. "He's a veteran player who plays the right way."
Garrett PC: #Cowboys have had their eyes on Jeremy Mincey for the past couple of years.
Mincey comes to work every day.
Garrett PC: Kyle Wilber deserved opportunities to play last week.
Garrett PC: we anticipate Brandon Weeden taking all first-team reps today.
Garrett PC: third downs last week were disappointing.
Garrett PC: the #Jaguars have good players. They have a good defensive front, active linebackers. They play that Seattle type ball.
Garrett PC: Davon Coleman did some good things. His injury opened the door for other guys to play better.
Garrett PC: Murray's finger will be okay.
Garrett PC: it's hard to know why Tyler Patmon wasn't drafted.
Garrett PC: there was no concerted effort to keep Murray at 40-something plays. He's the bell cow. It is what it is.
Garrett PC: brought Justin Durant to London for the experience.

Dallas Cowboys DT Tyrone Crawford (sprained MCL in right knee) won't practice today, coach Jason Garrett said. Not likely to play Sunday.

Dallas Cowboys practicing at Allianz Park, a rugby pitch. It's wider than normal NFL field. Artificial turf. Not striped particularly well.

Not a whole lot today. I imagine we'll see some practice report later in the Newsfeed Zone.

Crawford and Rolando not practicing, and Weeden taken all first team snaps is not... man, if we lose to Jacksonville I have to go into a shell in DC.

Crawford won't play and I'm sure McClain will practice Friday. I'd let him rest now. He knows the defense better than anyone.

We won't lose to JAX.

Yeah, that was the one that jumped out at me too. I was just going to start a thread about it before I saw it here.

For me, that's the most important news I've seen.

It is. We'll see some holes open up for Murray on Sunday. Let's get the win and stay healthy so we can run over the Giants and Eagles.

Get a win Sunday against a team we clearly outclass talent-wise, right the ship, and enjoy a bye week to heal-up, clean up some issues, and get ready for the stretch run to win this division!

Bruce Carter was playing well early in the season before he missed three games with a groin strain.

That doesn’t mean his spot is secure. Carter did return to start at strongside linebacker against Arizona, but he was on the field for only 16 snaps. Kyle Wilber was on the field for 25.

Head coach Jason Garrett was asked if that was because Carter isn’t completely healthy or if it was related to performance.

“We were playing a lot of different guys at linebacker, a normal rotation and also having to deal with some injuries,’’ Garrett said. “Kyle Wilber deserves some opportunities to play. We’re going to play the best guys and when you have a few different options.

“That’s good for your team because you’re creating competition for roster spots and creating competition for playing time.’’

The Cowboys envisioned playing Carter at weakside linebacker and used him there in training camp, but once Rolando McClain emerged at middle linebacker the coaching staff juggled the rotation and Carter landed on the strong side. Now that Justin Durant is out for the season rookie Anthony Hitchens now starts at weakside linebacker. He had eight tackles against Arizona.

Carter had three tackles against the Cardinals. Wilber had one.

“Kyle did some good things, Bruce did some good things, so we’ll keep rotating those guys around and see who wants it more and see who deserves it more,’’ Garrett said.

Carter is better at the strongside than Wilber. They need to stop moving Carter around and keep him at the Sam. He's played better this season.

Agreed. Carter needs to play; even at his worst moments he is a better overall Sam LB than Wilber.
