If the season ended today I would agree. Jack Del Rio, Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, maybe even Doug Pederson are all strong contenders though. Need to finish the year strong.

Really? He has been a mess since he got here and now he is coach of the year? Some indication that he has a better feel for the game than he has demonstrated previously, but (and this is a big but) he needs to have this team bring it home without getting in the way. The best thing he has done is hand over offensive calling completely to the coordinator and stay out of the way of the defensive coordinator.

Where is there evidence of him exerting influence over Jerry relative to the makeup of this team? I may have missed that, but I want to see information that supports that statement.

I'm willing to give Garrett more credit than I have in the last for sure, but I'm in the same boat re: him being responsible for the oline etc. I'd wager Minnesota had a healthy influence in 2009 lol.

I'd wager the influence is sprinkled throughout the team at this point. Jerry was openly invested in Manziel prior to the draft. If you watched footage of the war room during the draft, he was outvoted and upset when we went with a lineman. That was a tangible shift in the direction of the team and it wasn't where Jerry wanted to go. Garrett has influenced every draft since. More and more, this team looks like a product of Garrett and not of Jones. You still see Jerry the gambler, but it's happening in the second round and not in the first round and every round thereafter. As Jerry has gotten older, the reigns of control have shifted. In my opinion, you'd have to be willingly blind to not see that.

Now, is Red the coach of the year? I think he's in the running. How much this team has changed will be seen next month. Can we finish strong? I think that's the question. We've had competitive teams in the past that just came off the rails in December. If that happens again, it's on Garrett as much as the current win streak belongs to him. If we finish strong and head into the playoffs instead of backing in, I think Red is as deserving as anyone.

So you really don't think that JGs fingerprints are all over this team? The guy has been with the organization since 2007. The thought that you think JG just stays out of the way is ridiculous. Every team has O and D coordinators, and most call the plays, not the HC.

Sure, I have been a fan since before you were likely born, so get over your little hissy fit.

I stand on the statement that RHG is not a good coach at all. As for the direction of the team, I have to believe that Jerry's son has been a more significant influence than Jerry and surely Jason!
