No link but Rotoworld reports Garrett took his name out of consideration for the Lions' job.

Clear the decks, I see a storm coming from certain posters...

I give him props for choosing to stick it out.

Its 2009 or bust for the current Dallas Cowboys, there will be massive house cleaning in 2010 if Dallas doesn't at least achieve 11-5 and a playoff win.

I wouldn't take the Lions job either.

If he's in the running for Cleveland or Denver, I'd avoid that place entirely and take my chances.

Did anyone really think he was going to take it? I've had my heart ripped out so many times this season that I just can't let myself have hope anymore. Seriously, why would anything start going our way NOW?

Not suprising in the least.

Not sure why a "storm" would brew.

The guy gets paid well and he has probably already been guranteed the Head Coaching job in Dallas.

As I stated earlier, Jerry Jones would talk him out of leaving, especially if it was the Detroit Lions job, just like he talked Sean Peyton out of taking the Raiders job.

I don't care what anyone says, Offensive Coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys > Head Coach of the Detroit Lions.

Just ask Sean Peyton (although his title was Passing Coordinator or whatever it was) and Tony Sporano.

Denver? That would surprise me because they just parted ways with an offensive coordinator as their head coach.

Why do you think the offense would be better without Garret

When the headcoach gives so much time off and his practices are soft as hell it won't matter the team is going to be bad for the same fundamental reasons it struggled all year.

Turnover prone; bad execution; lack of discipline in every aspect of the game on the field I mean that is just the tip of the iceberg.

That all starts at the top and until we cut the headoff the rest is pointless

He's already making head coach money here, why would he take a job with the Lions?

so he could go to Detroit and win ONE game all year and be a success...Or win TWO games all year and be a legend...Or, hook his star to Jerry Jones with Jerry's record of playoff success and coaching stability...

IF Red ever gets the head coaching job just wait till Jerry has the good news/other news discussion with him:

good news: you're the new head coach of Americas Team
other news: follow me in to the next room and I'll introduce you to all "your"
assisant coaches I hired yesterday.

I just threw up in my mouth.......I knew it was to good to be true.

Dam, Dam, Dam, Dam, Dam.

This means no Shanahan, which means Coach Cupcake is back for 2009.

So Wade "Cupcake" Phillups and Jason "Tecmo Bowl" Garrett get a pass for 2008 and no playoffs???

Wow, just wow.

Supposedly Shanahan was fired because he would not agree to get rid of his defensive coordinator.

Garrett could go to Denver with Capers in tow I believe.

That would not be a bad fit for them at all.
