I just threw up in my mouth.......I knew it was to good to be true.

Dam, Dam, Dam, Dam, Dam.

This means no Shanahan, which means Coach Cupcake is back for 2009.

So Wade "Cupcake" Phillups and Jason "Tecmo Bowl" Garrett get a pass for 2008 and no playoffs???

Wow, just wow.
So dinner was bitter huh?

If I were Garrett, I would have taken the Lions job. All I would have to do is lead the team to 1 win and it would be an improvement from '08. With some high draft picks and trading down a few times to gain more draft picks, Garrett could quickly build the team he is looking for.

Hos I know you are high on Garrett, I don't think I have seen your opinion on what you thought about his play calling this season.......... So?

No link but Rotoworld reports Garrett took his name out of consideration for the Lions' job.

Clear the decks, I see a storm coming from certain posters...

DMN and FWST still havent picked this up yet. Not sure I'd trust Roto.

It wasn't as good as last year, but I don't think it was near as catastrophic as people are claiming. I agree with Michael Irvin's take that there is no way to truly judge the play calling when there is no time for plays to develop and guys not getting open.

I remain the guy's biggest fan.

He left off the horrendous work ethic this team apparently has, incl the QB.

Evening Hostile.

I really wanted Shanahan over another round of Wade/Garrett.

Doesnt look like it is going to happen if Garrett stays since there is no way in hell that Jerry is going to fire his boy Garrett.

And if Garrett stays, we dont have anybody to run the D besides Wade or Stewy and Stey freaking blows. So Wade gets another year buy default I guess.

If somebody told me before the season started that Wade and Garrett could miss the playoffs and keep their jobs I would have laughed in their face.

I guess reading all those preseason magazines telling me the Boyz were SB Champs and the season was just a formality raised my expectation level a bit.

that's Garrett's fault for drawing up slow-developing plays in the passing game

even most of our running plays are slow to develop

Not all of it.

He had 3 step drop plays, 5 step drop plays and 7 step drop plays.

If you don't have time on a 3 step drop play to set your feet and square your shoulders so you can throw accurately then there is a blocking problem.

A lot of factors, not just one culprit. Sorry to disappoint you.

Turning down a position in Detroit doesn't mean you're staying put.

:lmao2::lmao:

Detroit did go 0-16 however, they do have upside in Calvin Johnson. He's good enough to lure a HC him and that rookie RB. It's not going to be hard to rebuild that team and in the division they're in they could easily win it. Look at what the dolphins did and two first round picks this year....They could possibly turn it around and sooner rather than later.

Fair enough, the change from 07-08 was friggin sickening.

the only disappointment is Garrett's coaching

you can give your O time if you effectively and consistently run the football

Tell me about the injury levels form 2007 vs. 2008. Including Romo's.

The OL was horrid IMO. How 2 of them are in the Pro Bowl is really beyond me.

This is true, but it doesn't seem like it was enough. If 3 step drops weren't working because of pressure what would the OC have to do in order to get the pressure to calm down assuming that it's not because of players getting beat 1 on 1.

I really want to know if theirs a break down of how many times he dropped back 3 5 or 7.

Oline that can't block and WRs that can't get open? Man, it's a darn good thing we don't have a GM stupid enough to sign Colombo, Gurode, Davis, Adams, TO, Williams and Crayton to long term deals, huh?

Oh I get it. Just not much point in discussing it around here. See the "Injury" thread.
