Garrett is right -- Romo <should> have checked down on that play.

My goodness, when folks here on CZ actually see the accountability they are seeking, they don't know what to do with it.

It doesn't mean Romo didn't have a great (fantastic) game. It's just a statement of fact. Romo had an open guy (Murray) and a guy (Escobar) with three guys in the vicinity.

At least Romo doesn't make excuses for his mistakes, unlike his fans. I respect what he said, he took responsibility, now I'm over it. Let's keep this high powered offense up and go get the Deadskins.

I think if God personally came down himself and said the same thing JG said, the Romo apologists would still offer excuse after excuse for his ill-advised decision making on that last possession. Oh, and just point to his stats.

and if he ran and murray was stopped everyone would be screaming "why ddint you pass, you red headed idiot" Than some irish person would be offended and a fight would have ensued.

Why do you assume we would automatically get 0 yards on 1st down. This has become the norm for a running scenario and I don't know why its tolerated. What happens when we pass and throw an INT late in a game? That's easier to assume isn't it with his track record?

I get why people say we should have run, but that feels like hindsight to me. We had been going up and down the field on them with the passing game to almost no resistance. If we run and gain nothing, everyone is yelling at Garrett for "not trusting" Tony in the game of his career.

and believe me, I am no Jason Garrett fan

See my reply to ShiningStar!

Help me out on this one because im not quite sure yet:

Have you come here to impress us with your intellect or with your good education ?

I don't have a problem with what he said as long as he includes himself in his proclamation....Unreal!

So we hear all the time that players should be held accountable.

Garrett tries to do that and he "throwing Romo under a bus."

Par for course on this deteriorating board.

amazing though that he never holds himself accountable, it is always someone else's fault with that loser.

has he ever apologized or taken blame for decisions he has made like icing his own kicker, throwing silly challenges early, improper use of times out?

Hook line and sinker.

Cowboy fans are idiots.

That is why I don't associate with them when it comes down to a game like yesterday in which the QB throws for over 500yds and 5TDs and the lone pick that he is getting flamed for and my brother is one of those fans, who is blaming Romo for this loss and yet trying to convince me that Romo sucks and what Stephen *** had to say about it screw what he said. Anyone who is blaming this on Tony is not worthy of a fan and will get shrugged off just like I did my brother with his transfixation on that media narritve about him sucking.

About what?

He was wrong if he said that Romo should not have thrown that pass to Escobar. He was wrong if he said that Romo should have checked down. Romo read the coverage correctly. Instead of pointing fingers at everyone else, he needed to also take some blame for the way the game ended. Cowboys have no chance, no chance whatsoever, if they do not get the ball back with time on the clock to attempt a win. Goal line stand was beyond stupidity. All it did was play into the Broncos hand and waste clock. Garrett should have yelled at his DL to make sure that they dragged Moreno into the endzone if they had to, just like Peyton was yelling at his RB to NOT score the TD.

Garrett should take blame for not putting his team in a position to at least try for another score.

I went to the Cowboys' web site to see what Garrett actually said, but there is a message saying the video is no longer available. I did watch the post-game press conference, and he said Tony was brilliant. Later he referred to the interception in general terms as something that needs to be corrected, like every other mistake players made in the game. He did look pretty rattled. He also shifted the discussion of his defense to praise for Manning and his offense, and did it pretty smoothly.

I swear, you folks play right along with the people who want to create drama. Garrett also said it was the best game he had ever seen Romo play in his life. Want to start a thread about that? Garrett was simply analyzing how that play turned out and why. He is the head coach. It is not only his right, he is right about it. Romo played great, it was an unfortunate decision. Bottom line, you score 48 points you ought to win 100% of the time.
