Garrett To Interview With Falcons Friday

Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett confirmed he will interview for Atlanta's vacant head coaching position on Friday. The interview will be conducted in Dallas, he said.

Garrett has been mentioned as a possible candidate in Atlanta for days, and could draw interest from other teams looking for a new head coach. Cowboys assistant head coach Tony Sparano also is expected to speak with Atlanta, according to reports.

The Cowboys finished the regular season ranked third in total offense and second in points in Garrett's first year as offensive coordinator.

I don't care either way, but what I don't like is the rule that guys can be interviewed during a bye week. No one should be able to talk to active teams personal until they are no longer in the hunt.

Just one more distraction.

So, I asked this question several weeks ago and at the time, most did really think we had anything to worry about, "What happens if we lose both Sparano and Garrett in the off season?"

Over an interview? Never. ;)

But, if we somehow lost Garrett and Sparano in the same offseason, then I'd white-knuckle it a bit. I doubt he takes this job. If an NFL team calls you to interview as head coach, you go no matter what.

Looks like we'll be swapping our former VP of Player personnel for a HC who is a dead man walking.

If obtained , Cameron will focus more on the running game as OC

Garrett at times reminds me too much of Mike Martz

And when Sparano leaves us, fill the gap with Paul Solari, a damn good OC coach who flopped as an OC in KC.

But in Solaris defense he took the fall for Herm Edwards incompetence and an OL with woeful talent this past year

Yup, thats my biggest issue with the entire thing. How much is their mind going to be on the game planning, and how much is it going to be on a new job.

Garrett, Sparano will interview with Falcons Friday
Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett said today he will interview with the Atlanta Falcons for their head coaching position.

Assistant head coach/offensive line Tony Sparano will also interview with the Falcons Friday.

The interviews will be conducted in Dallas. Friday is an off day for the Cowboys. The vacancy was created when Bobby Petrino left to become head coach at Arkansas.

Garrett has been an assistant in the NFL for three years, including one year as a coordinator, but became a hot commodity with the Cowboys' success this season.

Sparano's offensive line produced three Pro Bowlers this season in Leonard Davis, Andre Gurode and Flozell Adams.

If he interviews...he's interested.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't take it.

Ireland is a goner.

But, if Jerra lets Garrett go, that will be the biggest loss the 'Boys have had in a long time.

Jerra, let old man Wade go and get on with the future: Jason Garrett.

I'll be shocked if Garrett does take the Atlanta job. Maybe he plans on being their starting QB until they can get one as well as a RB, etc.
