I'll be shocked if Garrett does take the Atlanta job. Maybe he plans on being their starting QB until they can get one as well as a RB, etc.

I think it would be a mistake for him to take the Atlanta job as well but, I'll say this. If the Giants come calling, and I think they will if they lose early, I'd be very affraid of that. Also, Miami is still lurking.

If he interviews...he's interested.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't take it.

Id be shocked if he did take it. Atlanta is a death sentence for any coaches carrier...at the moment. They have no QB and most of the team is behind a guy spending time in jail. It would be dumb to jump into a job like that when Garrett knows he at least going to be the Dallas Head coach in the near future.

Id see Garrett going to Miami or Baltimore....but not Atlanta.

We were all out of our minds when Payton left, and now we'll be out of our minds when/if Garrett leaves. Romo makes Garrett a genius, not the other way around. We'll be fine.

1. The Giants won't be looking for a new coach even if they lose the first playoff game...Coughlin gets some bad press, and Tiki threw him under the bus, but check out his actual record with Eli as the inconsistent QB...NY would be insane to fire him...he makes the playoffs every freakin' year.

2. I think Garrett would take any head coaching job that came along, but he would wait to see the best offer. Atlanta is currently in bad shape, but they are not in as bad a shape as Dallas was just 3 years ago, talent wise. Atlanta has an excellent owner who is loyal, does what he can to support his team, but doesn't really bother the coach. Coaches look at what type of owner they will work for, and Atlanta has a respectable guy.

3. Personally, I think this is just an interview. I don't actually think Atlanta will even offer Jason Garrett the head coaching job. He's not the type of guy they need at this time. They need a hard-nosed veteran coach who will be respected and take charge of that team and its loose-cannon players. I think they'll look more at a veteran coach, which is why they were hot to trot after Parcells in the first place.

It won't surprise me to see Garrett leave this year and get a job somewhere...I won't be too shocked if Sparano and he are both gone, nor will I wring my hands over it...we'll be okay. But I don't think Garrett will be offerred the job in Atlanta.

Let the hand wringing begin.

i don't begrudge a man for appling for another job, even with another team. i do think it's bad form to interrupt us during planning for the playoffs just so losing teams can get a head start on losing again.

So, I asked this question several weeks ago and at the time, most did really think we had anything to worry about, "What happens if we lose both Sparano and Garrett in the off season?"

I dont even want to think about that. The last thing we need is to lose the 2 architects of the offense.

He'd be an idiot if he took that job.

Yep

If Garrett takes the ATL job then he loses about 20 pts on my great talent meter.

Seriously - why would ANYONE want the ATL job? That place is a ZOO and the animals are running it.

D Hall? I'd kick him in the mouth and then kick him off the team. That kid (he's a freakin CHILD) needs to be put in his place by the organization.

Garrett better be smart about where he goes. Why even take the interview? Wow!

Interviewing not applying. I think any coach would be stupid not to listen to what someone is willing to offer you. This does not mean Garrett will leave. This will be the last week when teams can contact any of our staff or coaches because this is a bye week for us. Next week no one will be able to talk with any of our people until the season is over.

You can't turn down an offer unless you know what is being offered.

Exactly. League rule allows the interviewing of playoff teams that have the bye but after that week is over they can't contact any of our staff.

There are rumblings that the Baltimore Ravens are looking strongly at Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who might be at the most-wanted assistant this offseason, as a replacement for fired Brian Billick the Baltimore Sun reported.

The Atlanta Falcons, the only other team without a head coach, have received permission to speak with Garrett, but he has not agreed to an interview. The Ravens haven't made requests to talk to coaches, but they plan to do so Wednesday.

According to The Sun, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel is under consideration as is Baltimore defensive coordinator, Rex Ryan.

He may go to Baltimore

Yup, thats my biggest issue with the entire thing. How much is their mind going to be on the game planning, and how much is it going to be on a new job.

:starspin I feel the same way, they should have to wait until our season is over. I can't see how it would not be a big distraction for them in terms of game planning, etc..

Sure you can. Call me w/ the offer and Ill turn you down on the phone.

It's Atlanta. It's not like they would give Garrett full control of all football operations and HC.

This is a job for the HC. It's not about money either.

Im certain Garrett will continue to stay here unless there is somethign that is just out of this world offered to him. I don't see that happening.

The only place I saw that G might be willing to go to would have been the NYFG and Coughlin isn't going anywhere now. I think we are hanging onto Garrett.

Looks like we'll be swapping our former VP of Player personnel for a HC who is a dead man walking.

If obtained , Cameron will focus more on the running game as OC

Garrett at times reminds me too much of Mike Martz

And when Sparano leaves us, fill the gap with Paul Solari, a damn good OC coach who flopped as an OC in KC.

But in Solaris defense he took the fall for Herm Edwards incompetence and an OL with woeful talent this past year
Mike Solari was asst OL coach when Landry was here (87-88)
