News: Garrett took accountability

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...rett-took-accountability-in-meeting-this-week

The Dallas Cowboys bounced back from last week's prime-time defeat on Sunday by outlasting the Lions in Detroit, 35-27. But not before Cowboys coach Jason Garrett put the Week 10 loss to Minnesota, and his role in it, behind him.

Garrett had a meeting with Cowboys players on Thursday in which he "took accountability" for what transpired at the end of the Vikings' game, among other things, a team source told NFL Network's Jane Slater on Sunday. Slater added that Garrett's message was "really well-received" by the team.

The Cowboys coach took some heat in the aftermath of Dallas' 28-24 loss to Minnesota last Sunday after Garrett and his staff seemingly took the ball out of Dak Prescott's hands while the Cowboys were driving to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Prescott was in the midst of a prolific night, but with time running out and the game on the line, Dallas siphoned touches to Ezekiel Elliott, who was struggling. The Cowboys' drive ended on a failed fourth-down conversion to Zeke.

Garrett was also criticized for his role on a Tavon Austin fair catch on the ensuing Vikings punt. The coach said during the week that Dallas didn't "communicate" well enough to Austin on Minnesota's late punt what to do. With acres of space ahead of Austin at the ball's arrival, the punt returner instead called for a fair catch, squandering an opportunity to gain more than 10 yards and to set up an easier Hail Mary. Prescott's last-ditch heave fell incomplete four plays later and the Cowboys fell to 5-4.

However, all appears to be forgiven now, as Dallas bounced back with an assured win over Detroit. Prescott enjoyed his third 400-yard passing game of the season (444 yards, 3 TDs), special teams miscommunications did not appear to be an issue and the Cowboys assured their place atop the NFC East for at least one more week.

In football, as in life, communication is key, on the field and in the locker room.
Dallas bounced back to beat another struggling team with a rookie quarterback.
I guess everything is fixed now.
Lookout Super Bowl; here we come!

Not among players. Only among fans who somehow don’t understand the difference between what you’d say to media and what you’d say to your locker room.

Among players, his reputations has always been as a coach who’s straightforward and who holds people accountable.
If no one would divulge what was said, how do we conclude he took accountability or that all is well?

I was countering the idea that he didn’t take accountability. Since that was the unfounded accusation today.

He took accountability for being a sorry coach. Well, that makes everything just dandy.

There’s a long list of players that think Garrett is a snake.

Cow Plop: There is a long list of players.

OK, name them.

Cow Plop: Here is two.

That isn't a long list.

Cow Plop: Here is two more from ten years ago.

Still not a long list.

Cow Plop: Are you stupid?? Why do you need five?????

Links to the Austin and Dez comments?

He will never post that because A) he is dishonest and B) they don't exist from Dez. Dez ripped guys like Sean Lee for contributing to his release and called them "Garrett guys" but he never called Garrett a snake or anything close.

Are we talking football or what your military career amounted to?

“Buh, I got my dd-214 guyzzz!”

They haven’t though. It’s been the same old guys it was from 2013 or earlier. TO, Crayton, Jessie Holley—who had a cup of coffee here. This is not growing criticism by any measure. We even had Martellus Bennett come out and say he liked Garrett even though he didn’t necessarily fit well with him.

“...had a cup of coffee here.”

So what is the requisite amount of time for it to be a legitimate comment? Garrett has been involved in a coaching capacity with the Cowboys since 2007.

TO and Crayton were both around Garrett for 2-3 seasons each. Hatcher was on the team when Garrett was around from 2007-2013.

These are just new ways of trying to dismiss critical comments from former players.

I know honesty isn't your thing, but you claimed that "there’s a long list of players that think Garrett is a snake".

What you posted was noted intellectual Dez Bryant saying Garrett has too many meetings.

No, this is you pulling things out of your backside as usual. TO ripped everyone and Crayton was a backup with a bad attitude. You are lying about Dez and Holley.

Hatcher said a lot of dumb things and his comment is about Dallas firing a 1-7 coach nine years ago. There may be something to that situation but its doubtful Hatcher had a clear view of it.

Oh, goodie, yet another chance to demonstrate you’re a lying hypocrite.

Feel free to show me the post where I said (as you quoted):

“there’s a long list of players that think Garrett is a snake".

Go fetch it for me...now git

Quoting this before you edit it.

And all this blathering amounts to you trying dismiss the comments instead of dealing with the information.

Basically...

cRaytun wuz a back-up, so iT duezn’t matter what he sayz!

I don’t remember anything specific. I do think he was upset with Garrett when he was cut, but it was never that bad. See my dig for how he felt before that.

Austin they hired one camp when he was trying to get into coaching.

You missed the "bad attitude" part of my post, you lying buffoon.

It’s been common knowledge that Crayton lacked respect for Jason Garrett since he followed Terrell Owens into the offensive coordinator’s office to complain about Jason Witten’s role in the offense. During an appearance with ESPN 103.3’s Ben and Skin Show, Crayton made it clear he had a personal problem with Garrett.
