Because the Jones family does not empower the HC to hire and fire his own staff. It was the jones family forcing Garrett to find an OC to run the offense and call plays. It was the Jones family who let Linehan construct the WR corps with castaways and cut Dez. Garrett told the truth at the time saying no changes are being made. That is because he needed permission to fire Linehan unlike most HC's who can fire their staff when they suck. This is part of the culture that needs to change along with players going straight to Jerry. The HC needs to have the ability to hire/ fire his staff as he sees fit.

Well it looked like he got his wish. The word was he wanted to fire Linenhan before the season

I was listening to the Brian Kilmeade show this morning, he was interviewing Kraft. He asked him if Brady was leaning towards retirement last year. He basically said he's not involved in that type of stuff, the coach makes all of the personal decisions and since 1996,that has been his policy and it has worked well for him. Garrett said last week Jerry makes all of those decisions.

Since the 1996 Superbowl, how many Superbowls has Kraft been in compared to Jerry?

Well, Garrett should scratch 'Can Conceive and Execute Plausible Cover-ups' from his resume.

The latter. Foolish of Garrett to have ever said that when Garrett himself wasn’t especially in favor of Linehan’s #Cowboys return. https://t.co/lKwGUK9BpC

They were thinking about firing him during the season and Jason himself admitted that it was a possibility that he took over play calling responsibilities mid season. Should not be shocked by this.

Sounds like a soap opera to me. We don't know what really happened or what Jason or Jerry or Stephen really thought, and there is a very good possibility the media is making up a version they can hook readers into. There certainly isn't enough that is truly known to support a substantive conversation.

Yep.

Sticky this post. It's the disease of the organization from top to bottom....or socks to jocks, if you will.

Of course you're not it doesn't fit your narrative.
Guys who were around the team said it was no secret Linenhan and Garrett didn't get along last season.

It doesn't fit the evidence. Garrett had that talk show fiasco early in the week where he showed support for Linehan, acting like he was not going anywhere, and then had to walk it back. Linehan was Garrett's guy. He didn't want him gone.

How foolish can you be, That is Garrett's thing in the media..lol he don't give you the whole truth..lol
Hop over to talking Cowboys and listen to the people around the team who talk about them not getting along.

I think Fisher is actually the one behind the Linehan firing.

I think Scott got Scott fired ... and Fish was just spinning

Scott had the the players in 2014, 2016, and 2018 and barely got close

I actually heard from Broaddus first. That their relationship had started to sour.

There has been tension between Kraft and Belichick involving Brady and the QB they traded to SF.

There were reports that Belichick might leave when his contract is up or even force his way out sooner.

If Kraft had Garrett as the Head Coach he would likely mettle like Jerry.

If Jimmy had Belichick's personality he likely would have lasted several more years with Jerry. Belichick just requires control but wants no part of the media.

The Jerry/Jimmy split was more about Jimmy getting media attention than it was about control. Jerry would have continued to give Jimmy control if Jimmy had just told the media that Jerry was the GM.
