Garrett's Locker Room Tears: Is it good or bad?

life has made me bawl like a baby at times. And the holidays can make it doubly hard for someone feeling the pain of loss.

Garrett tearing up loses it's "ooomph" when he does it so frequently; I could care less if a guy cries if it is for the right reason...I hope to cry tears of joy the night of February 3rd when we pull down the 6th lombardi...but, if Garrett wants to be everyone's friend, then have a cookout for them...just please stop being their head coach, 'cuz you suck at it....

A well timed show of emotion is good from time to time. If it happens to often, it loses its effect. Some men don't respect a man that is emotional, it's not the way they were raised. You have to know your team. I only got emotional once during a post game speech. I knew it was my last game at that school after 7 years. No one else new, but I knew it was time to move on. No tears, just a bit emotional.

If I ever have the pleasure of meeting you, coach.......we're chest bumpin'.

Thanks for the rational, thought-provoking replies (most of them). When I said crying, I meant getting choked up like Garrett does a lot. I agree that Garrett is genuine and it probably has no bearing on how the players feel about him or how they show up on the field.

Football is the greatest sport ever invented. Hands down, because you have every aspect of athletics rolled into one game and there is so much prep, game planing, adjustments and scheming to boot. That said, it also the most emotional sport there is. Emotions run high. Sometimes a leader can cry and it's seen as a strength, or a moment of gratitude and acknowledgment to those you are leading. No issues with it, whatsoever.

To those of you who have played sports or ever had a coach of any kind, is it good or bad that Garrett cries in front of the team after practically every win? I ask because men tend to perceive crying as weakness. I can tell that they all love Garrett. I also heard about Landry and Parcells crying on rare occasions. I know they were both highly respected. The situation with Gallup is understandable, but Garrett cries over everything. As a woman, I think it"s awesome, but what do you men (and women) think? Can a leader of men cry a lot and be successful?

If it's not done at the drop of a hat, I think it's fine........Who says gingers don't have souls?

While I will admit I don't watch every single post-game speech, I don't recall Garrett crying a lot. I was absolutely great with seeing him do so though. I thought the team responded great to his emotions as well. He definitely has a knack for connecting with his players. They seem to really enjoy playing for him. As somebody else in this thread mentioned, I wonder how he would do in a front office position?

I have a lot more respect for guys that can show their emotions over these guys that walk around with their chests puffed out like they're all big and bad.
