I do think they valued backs a year ago. Jerry openly dangled his first round pick this year for AD and we invited virtually every back in for a visit. Picking 27th is the reason we didn't get our back last year, not organizational neglect. If Gregory didn't fall in our lap in the second, that pick is likely a back IMO.

It was never confirmed we offered a #1 for Peterson. That was more internet myth than reality.

And no offense but trying to argue that bringing a guy like Miller in for a visit and then maybe taking a back in Rd 2 last year instead of Gregory doesn't prove the Cowboys value backs. It shows that they were willing to invest lower assets as opposed to top assets in a TB. Note, they didn't sign Miller because he was deemed too expensive. And if they had taken a TB in round 2 last year, his contract would have been very cheap which is what they had been looking for............ good, cheap TBs.

Then last night, they flipped their plan on its head and took an expensive TB with a premium draft pick.

Hope it works out and Elliott runs for 8,000 yards the next 5 years and 80TDs and leads us to a SB. But I still think we kind of blew that pick last night. We overpaid for something we probably didn't need to overpay for.
