Gehlken: There is a high likelihood that Kelvin Joseph and Jabril Cox will be traded by or waived

Why would a team offer a trade? If they aren’t going to make our roster, they will be available very soon. Neither of these guys currently have the value for a trade IMO.
If a team really needs a player they will trade instead of waiting their turn on the waiver wire. They can give up a 7 or a conditional 6.

Agree--- and everyone keeps saying how better the Cowboys are doing with their draft picks. I say, it is average at best. When a team relies heavy on filling holes, with their roster, because they are not into free agency, the draft is more important. And you see why the Cowboys have not seen a NFC Finals in THREE DECADES
Average? You need to go study the roster that is filled with draft picks. This team is one of the best teams in the league. Average teams don't win 13 games. Your take is ridiculous and your math skills must be piss poor.

I would keep Joseph over Goodwin. Joseph is a very good ST player who can play DB in a pinch. Goodwin only plays ST.

I didn’t get to see them in practice all camp long like the team did… but I don’t think I would keep either one. There are other corners that I’d rather have on this team than Joseph, and there are other LB’s I’d keep for sure over Cox.

I haven’t been a fan of Cox’s play going back to LSU. Joseph, I had hopes for but he just doesn’t seem to have it.

I will admit that I’d keep Joseph before Cox, if I had too.

Man I thought Cox was going to be a good at least rotational player. He had the one great play knocking Daniel Jones out cold on the goal line, then he got injured shortly thereafter and basically been an uphill battle since.

Average??? The Cowboys are known for being one of the best drafting teams in the league.

You said it yourself, they are not into free agency. How do you think the roster got so good? Because they draft so good!

They're most likely keeping Joseph. He's looked like he's made some strides and looked decent in preseason. If penalties alone were going to get someone kicked off of the team, it would be Juanyeh Thomas, since that penalty he got completely turned around the complexion prior preseason game. But Juanyeh is too talented for that and I feel like Joseph is showing enough flashes that they'll look past a singular penalty in a game we won.

Jabril Cox, I didn't see anything notable from him. He might be kept because of the Overshown injury, but out of the two, he's the one who most likely won't be on the team.
I feel the only way we'd cut Joseph is if Lewis is ready to come off PUP. Considering we have not seen Lewis this preseason, I don't think that's the case.

I disagree with this. Joseph surprisingly is playing well this preseason. Plus he may become the special teams ace to replace CJ Goodwin. Goodwin has been sliding by for a minute and he's getting long in the tooth. And with Cox speed and coverage skills on RBs....I'd be surprised if either got cut.
I agree...Bossman Phat has stepped up in how he is playing corner. His anticipatory skills have always been lacking, but less so this season. He is a SURE special teams tackler and will mix it up there. I'm not itching to get him off the team, but I also don't want him on an island on the outside.

I think either (or both) of them and perhaps a DT like Gali or Golston could be trade bait for a RB, LB or OG.

I agree about Cox. I think, as for Joseph, he may be more valuable to us than most other teams. I could see us cutting him as his main contribution is special teams. That said, I think his main contribution is what keeps him on the team for now.
Joseph is making a contribution and has physical upside. Probably don't dump him yet, but it's a bad look that we're even talking about it.

we are only 5 deep at LB, with Parsons spending most of his time at DE, we are actually 4 deep. cutting Cox as much as we don't like him is going to leave us with 3 LBs...yeah yeah yeah, Quinn is going to get bell to be the "hybrid" player and use him as LB....but he is not a LB, he is trying to convert to that Hybrid role.

now, as for Joseph, they may try to trade him and recoup that 4th round pick they gave up. they won't get a 4th, but maybe a 5th or 6th.

Cox just never seems to have had the light come on....just kind of runs around willy nilly. There will certainly be a LB cut that is better than he is. And the likelihood is one of our S could take his place and do a better job.

Joseph has played better but lining up offsides? Just seems to be a mental midget. I think the status of Lewis probably has a big impact on whether he stays or goes. Who is more valuable right now, Joseph or Scott? I know Scott flashed a bit early, but seems like fewer and fewer mentions of him as camp has gone on. Is a former 2nd rounder more valuable than a current 6th rounder that you used extra picks to get? And Nashon Wright is part of that picture too....at times he looked good in camp, but this high ankle sprain has shut him down. After the top 4 corners it is anybody's guess IMO.
When that penalty was called on KJ my thought was, "that's it for him". His problem is not his ability, it is his brain, or lack thereof. How does a slot CB get called for lining up offsides? That is a major stupid.

Devin Harper: It took two injuries above him on the depth chart for Harper to get a full game of reps in the preseason. However, he took full advantage of his extra snaps by patrolling the second level and impressing on special teams. With a notable lack of linebacker depth, expect Harper to rotate in with Leighton Vander Esch and Damone Clark instead of an outside linebacker acquisition.
