General consensus on Rob Ryan

were they great additions, no, is hindsight perfect, yes, was there better out there for the value, doubtful, did i like them, no am I the coach who knows better, no.

He lost the offseason and had some guys on the team that just didnt deserve to be there anymore, now hes got one of his guys and we added a gun and still have the draft to do, im all for him getting a fair shot at this.
there it is

Well, so far he has proven to be about average in my eyes. There's nothing that jumps off the page about him to be honest. I don't think he's bad, but certainly not great. As to the argument that he "needs more/better players", most competent D coordinators can look good with 11 all pros.

I wouldn't count on that. Not with the state of our defensive line and OLB not named Ware.

yes....

I know you can't wait to see the Cowboys fall again....

I think he did a pretty good job.

He took the same group of scrubs Wade embarrassed himself with and got some good games out of them.

.

would beg to differ with this notion

2010: what was our defensive ranking? not much difference in players

2011: players were there but they quit and they should be ashamed of it. wade did not forget to coach defense in 1 year. for once jerry had it right when he told the team that he did not fire wade, the team/players did

wade is a much better (and FAR more proven) DC than RR

IMO jury is still out on whether RR is even an adequate DC much less a great one

Years switched?

In any event Wade coached them to garbage performances and Rob improved it by about a TD.

Quit or not doesn't matter. That was his side.

Rob had little to work with and had some stout performances result in losses because the offense didn't do enough.

Of course the defense bungled games where the offense showed up as well.

All in all i think he did pretty good given the circumstances.

So what do you guys think?

I am not a big fan of his loud mouth and I think he was exposed late in the year. His own hype about all the "talent" he had on the field bit him in the *** a bit.

I think he is a decent defensive coordinator who was overhyped coming in. Carr should help, but really, we have a lot of problems on the defense.

What say you?

I think Rob was just trying to build confidence in the D......IMO the D lost their confidence the year before....

Whats he suppose to say with his D listening? "Yeah these guys suck **** and we are going to suck all year?

IMO our MLBers got old and Lee was injured.......That didnt help the situation....We have no depth at the LB position.....If Carter steps up and this new guy Conner can step up then that might be different but I still think we need more depth at this position....I also feel like we need another pass rusher and more safety help.......

He looks like Santa if Santa was an alcoholic biker.

Thats cool to me..........He looks like a fellow hillbilly.....

I'm a hillbilly and IMO this is what we needed as a DC.....:)

One thing that bothers me: If Ryan is so smart, why did he agree to join the Cowboys when he knew the secondary stank and he had no one else other than Ware to pressure the QB?
Did he expect to create miracles with his brilliant coaching?
It speaks volumes (I don't know what that means but I think it means lots of books) about his overconfidence in his agilities.

Needed a hillbilly?

What inherent trait of the hillbilly that cannot be found in non-hillbillys is actually needed?

A sharp whistle when pronouncing the letter 'S'?

There is no way around it..........You have to have that sharp whistle in pronouncing the letter S to be effective.......

Why did you ask if you already knew?

Just gotta make sure I'm not overlooking anything in the hillbilly realm.

I'd hate to be outta practice with spotting one.

Do hillbillies ever wear kilts?

Ryan's defense gave up 68 points to the Gnats, 54 to the Egirls and 40 to the Deadskins. The Cowboys finished 2-4 in the division and the defense got worse as the season went on giving up 162 points in the first 8 games and 185 in the last.

By comparison, Pasqualoni's defense gave up 174 points in the last 8 games of the 2010 season.

"We're gonna be great." - Rob Ryan
