Wow, talk about a self-centered you know what. It is not his agents fault that he isn't that good of a QB. Sure glad he isn't a Cowboy, that attitude is not going to take him far :laugh2:

Once again the masses believe the first thing they read, ... it's on the internet, it must be true.

Talking to NFL Sirus radio, Smith refused to discuss the situation.

"I don't want to shed too much light on it," he said. "The thing that I can tell you is that it's not because of the whole draft experience. It's not because of one particular incident. There's a number of things. And that story, you know, that battle will be fought on a different day. As of right now, I don't feel too comfortable talking about all the details of it."

"First and foremost, I want to make it known that I was never bitter about where I was selected because it's a great selection. Whether it was number one or the last pick, I was coming in with the right mentality, and that's to get better and compete daily. I'm extremely ecstatic to be a part of the Jet's organization."

"I'm not bitter about where I was selected, because I'm on a great team and I'm in a great position," he said.

Sounds like damage control, if someone fires their agent in this situation right after the draft then they are going to be forthcoming about a specific incident. Burden is on Smith to come up with a real reason.

That isn't necessarily true. He may want to keep quiet for a while so as not to create any issues with his breaking of his contract with his agent. He'll want his lawyers and new agent to look over all the paperwork to make sure he doesn't owe his old agent any money or is in a position to owe more if he says the wrong thing at this moment.

What damage? What burden?

Guys change agents all the time.

I'll believe what the players says over some internet hack looking to stir "it" up.

I know he can't get another agent for five days or something after the draft, so it is probably some legal issue that he is adhering to and not talking about it.

He really doesn't have to explain his decision to anybody.

Saw more info on twitter.

Agent spent only a few hours with Smith in NYC. Other guys had their agents their with them the entire time. He never talked to his agent at all day 2 even though he was selected that day.

So while he was being mocked and insulted the agent was no where to be found. He was actually with lower drafted clients out of NYC.

I really hope Geno lights it up in NYC and shuts up the haters.
It is clear he can play.

He got knocked because WVU didn't have a defense.

Right, .. this and that article that came out saying he was basically a bum pretending to play QB.

I think it may have hurt some that he didn't play in the Sr. Bowl too, .. perhaps at the suggestion of his agent.

It's going to be tough succeeding with the Jets right now though, I think they are disfunctional .

Lots of top players don't participate in the senior bowl. Don't buy that knock. Think people questioned his accuracy which seems silly to me and also hated that he didn't run more. A weird complaint since the past decade it has been a knock if you run too much.

I think Geno is Tony Romo. Solid athlete, buys you time by being slippery, not a runner. Solid but not spectacular arm strength and accuracy is good but not great. Accurate on the move as he is on a straight drop. Smart player but will force a throw on occasion when behind and pressing.

Jets are odd but it is a team with talent. I think Geno could perform very well there and soon. If he had went very high it might have been far tougher.

Well, that's kind of the problem right? If the article is correct and Geno felt as if he should be the top or near the top of the draft, then clearly, he should have been playing in the Senior Bowl because he was clearly not viewed that way in this draft.

That, to me, is the fault of the agent. If the Agent is doing his job, then he's making sure that Geno is in the right games and he is doing all the right things to improve his position. Now, if the player does not perform, that's a different story but I think Geno does have a beef here. Regardless, the agent should have been with him in NY. JMO

Ok I'll take that for now, just bizarre Smith doesn't say "I don't think he was always being a dependable decision maker for me." not hard to put it in non-specific terms.

Is it his agents fault that Geno was anti-social around NFL executives and coaches pre-draft?

Akili Smith, Heath Shuler, Tim Couch, Jemarcus Russell, Matt Leinart, David Carr, Ryan Leaf, Cade McNown........

Soon Geno Smith will be on that list, too.

I was reading the other article about Tyrone Mathiue not signing his contract with no guaranteed money. I would put in his contract that if he fails a drug test he needs to give back the guaranteed money. Needs to be hold accountable for his past actions until proved otherwise.

"He doesn't have much presence, not much of a leader," said another league executive, who spent a great deal of time studying Smith before the draft. "I don't think he's a bad person, but that's not enough to be a quarterback in this league."
Two sources indicated that when Smith went on some visits to teams, rather than interact with coaches and front-office people, he would spend much of his time on his cell phone. Instead of being engaged with team officials, he would be texting friends or reading Twitter or a number of other distracting activities.
"All these other players who were in there were talking to the coaches, trying to get to know people and he was over there by himself," one of the sources said. "That's not what you want out of your quarterback."
