"He doesn't have much presence, not much of a leader," said another league executive, who spent a great deal of time studying Smith before the draft. "I don't think he's a bad person, but that's not enough to be a quarterback in this league."
Two sources indicated that when Smith went on some visits to teams, rather than interact with coaches and front-office people, he would spend much of his time on his cell phone. Instead of being engaged with team officials, he would be texting friends or reading Twitter or a number of other distracting activities.
"All these other players who were in there were talking to the coaches, trying to get to know people and he was over there by himself," one of the sources said. "That's not what you want out of your quarterback."

That's what I thought.

apparently Geno thought none of the NFL scouts watched the second half of his season this past year OR he fired him because he didn't burn all the tapes of the second half of Geno's past season. First 5 games he looked great, rest of the season he looked like he'd have to find another position besides QB to play in the NFL....

Obviously you didn't watch the games, either. He looked fine the second half of the season. There was no way he could continue to play at the extremely high level he played at to start the season, but he was still playing very well. He never looked like a guy who would need to switch positions.

I never thought he would be the #1 overall pick and I don't believe the headline as to that being the sole reason he fired his agent. There is more to the story. There is also more to the story as to why he didn't go in the first round. Part of that story is getting out there now on how he didn't come across as interested when meeting with different teams.

and part of it is that he stinks. During much of the Big 12 league games in the second half of the season....he was spraying passes all over the place. Replace Bailey and Austin with average players and Geno probably doesn't even get drafted. He's going to be in over his head in the NFL and its sounding a lot like he's also got other issues. I rank Geno slightly below Case Keenum as a prospect coming out.

Soon Geno Smith will be on that list, too.

He will have to sit out this entire season, and they jump up a round in the draft, to be on that list, since they are all 1st rders and he is not.

He completed 67% of his passes in the second half of the regular season. That is hardly spraying passes all over the field. It only seems that way because he was completing 75% of his passes in the first half of the season. He has some skills. Not 1st round skills, but he has some stuff to work with. That doesn't mean he will be successful, but I would not say he stinks.

You would think that someone who was spraying passes all over the field would have double digit INTS, a low QB rating and very few TDs.

Instead he finished the season with 6 INTs, 163+ rating and 42 TDs.

If that defense did not suck so bad that team would have won a lot more games.

What list is that exactly?

All those guys were r1 QBs, Geno wasn't.

BTW, far more likely imho that Geno is on the Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers list of QBs who fell after teams went stupid.

BTW, teams didn't like Rodgers in interviews either. Too cocksure they said.

Now all those teams would beg him to be the highest paid player in the league for their teams.
