There no good reason to not get an early extension deal completed with Smith. He is, IMO, a top-4 guard at worse in the league, and will be the lynchpin of this line for 5-8 years if he stays healthy.

Many people don't like paying guards big money. A good starting point would be the Landon Dickerson contract. He signed an $84 million contract in 2024. Dickerson is a better run blocker, while Smith is a better pass protector. Seeing as how Dak is not the mobile QB we once knew, this is of most importance.

The Eagles have a potential out in 2027 that would leave them with a cap hit of just over $12 million. His UFA year in 2029 is also a void year with a cap hit of $12.5 million.

I would offer Smith a 5-year, $110 million contract now. Yes, $22 million a year for a guard, but a guard that is already elite, young, can still improve, and might have an argument for the best guard in the NFL in a year or two. This is a player that can stabilize an entire o-line. The contract can be structured for an early exit in case of injury, as our stinking rivals in Philly have shown.

Please do not let any Tyler Smith contract talks turn into what we just witnessed.

But the media coverage of the deal would disappear upon signing, and the offseason is too long to keep fresh unless you manufacture some drama. Best to leave it till just before the next season opener.

Yup...to me...this has to happen.

It shows there is a plan for the money, that you can get paid and it is just smart to get these guys done. I would do Tyler, Bland and the Kicker before monday.

If we have a losing record and Dak is just average by the trade deadline, Im trading away every big contract away for picks.

Have a shell of a team in 2026. Dump Dak in 2027 and rebuild.

He's a Top 10 OG. I'd prefer to pay him as a Top 10 guard and not make him the highest paid guard in NFL history, which Athletes First will no doubt try to make happen.

...yes, you can. I'd wait till mid season, see how its progressing.

where is the drama in that? where is the publicity? how does that help increase franchise value. no signing until at least mid camp next year given Guards are not exciting, but still can milk it for 3rd year in a row, getting people to talk about Jerry.

I actually think it would be a smart thing to sign Tyler soon
It sends a message about needing to pay others not just Mr Parsons and therefore he was traded
