getting data off a laptop that won't start?

So worst case scenario here. Finished my 15 page history paper last night at 10pm. Its due today at 1. I spilled water all over my laptop and now it won't start. How in the hell can I get my paper of of my hard drive?!

Not sure what type of laptop you have, but if you can extract the hard drive and have another computer. You could use a USB adapter to plug it into the other computer and pull it off the drive.

If you don't have a usb adapter you can unplug the cdrom and setup the laptop hard drive as a second drive.

Crisis averted! Took out the hard drive and went to the IT desk at my college and they were able to pull the file off it.

How much did they charge you? When I did the exact same thing at my school I had to spend $80.
