Getting to 5-7

8-8 will not get a wild card. The only way we get into it is by winning the division. Which means we need NY and Philli to start losing and Wash to keep doing what its been doing.

I hope we make it, it would be an awesome story, but its probably not going to happen. I don't think there is any way we beat this eagle's team twice, and those two games are going to be bigger than any other test we face. Indy game will not be easy either.

If we have motivation going into the Eagles games I still think our size is a bad matchup for them just as it was a year ago.

If all things are = and Dallas plays their best game and Philly plays their best game I still think they can't overcome the matchups.

Actually a mid range draft pick is a blessing this year. There are solid tackles and guards in the draft but no franchise player which we don't need anyway. We could justify using our first pick on a tackle or guard (tackle most likely). At some point a veteran player becomes just old and I think we are witnessing that with Columbo and Davis.

But what you're really saying is you like the coaching.

I like what i've seen as of 1 week but he gets no anointing oil until we have all of the evidence.

Jason Garrett has always been one of my favorite Cowboy players but i'll give him no biased love because this next coaching hire will determine a Lombardi Trophy or not.

The problems with this team can be a quick fix and the skill players we have in place is incredible for salary cap football.

Im not really enamored with any of these OL in the draft as of today.

If I had my pick in the 5-10 range I would go with a Dline choice and grab Marcel Dareus from Alabama.

For this to be even possible. Dallas needs to do something this Sunday that they haven't been able to do for a while.

Dominate and BEAT a weaker team that they should handle easily. Detroit is horrible on the road, young, can't finish games. QB play for them is shakey and they have Calvin Johnson, possibly J. Best as weapons.

Dallas is far more the better team. But, will that translate on the field?

I may start being a believer if the team that came out against the Giants comes out and plays.

Not the team that plays to the level of their opponent and never above that level.

Do not overlook Pettigrew....he is a very good TE. Plus, we have been having issues with covering TEs this season.....so he may be in for a big day, if we can't get our act together.

You really think we'll do anything if we get in the playoffs at 9-7?

IF that happens (a big IF), then this team would have run the table from 1-7 to get there, and would officially be the hottest team in the NFL.

I think they would do well if they made it in under that scenario.

We know where capable its not even a question of could we? Of course if the line plays like it did it begins and ends with them. We hv to get TNew and Jenks bk if we want to beat NO thansgvn. We poss be Detroit without one of them ie: Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson

???? can you please decipher this code? :banghead:

5-11 would be a success for JG with the situation he walked into.

Just stop it. were are not making the playoffs. Unbelievable that people still think we can with our backup QB, swiss cheese secondary, non-existent kicking game, spotty pass rush and an interim head coach. :banghead:

Not to mention tough schedule.

Hey, I'll settle for finally getting a HOME victory this Sunday! :D

It is possible. But the chances are like 5%. 20-1.

New Orleans and Indy will be very tough. The eagles - that depends on if Vick can keep playing the way he has. Honestly we can do it; but the odds are pretty long. We would be like San Diego a couple of years ago when they won 12 straight into the playoffs. Actually if we win 12 straight we will have won the SB.

In the NFL, regardless of how bad or good your football team is..... The odds are you can win 2 out of 9.

In saying this, lets be reasonable. I know we beat a very good football team last week in the Giants but this board has been talking about winning 8 in a row now.

With our schedule even the Cowboys teams of the early 90's with Jimmy Johnson at the helm wouldn't be able to do it.

The reality is we will probably at best end up 6-10, maybe 7-9. That would mean we go either 4-3 or 5-2 in these next 7 games.

I'm sorry but until we win these next 2 games I think we should chill out a bit and go back to the mentality that won us our last game.

That is.... Get better at playing 100% for 60 minutes on this coming Sunday.

This talk about playoffs and running the table is totally unwarranted. I wish we were in the hunt but we're not.

It's sad because im just now starting to get excited for this football season and I realise we have put ourselves in a situation that is basically impossible to make the post season.

This is pure torture for an NFL fan.

I think most understand the odds are slim to none but as long as slim is out there why not hope? I have nothing to lose by hoping the team can pull off this uphill battle

Oh yes, I forgot about him, Definate threat. He is a good TE. I still think Dallas is the better team, bias aside. But, we shall see Sunday.

No this is not true. We beat them and we have a SLIM OUTSIDE SHOT. Come one, after that we have to beat @Indy, @ Philly, Philly. PlUS, NY and Philly have to really falter. Make no mistake about it it is going to be an OUTSIDE SHOT not a REAL SHOT.
maybe I chose the wrong word when I said REAL. But in terms of this teams confidence and optimism...I think the outcome of the New Orleans game will give us the momentum we need. First of all it would be our 3rd win in a row. It would be a victory over the defending Super Bowl champs on a stage like Thanksgiving with the whole nation watching. We would have 10 days off until our next game against the "mighty" Colts. Don't get me wrong, I respect what they have accomplished, but this Colts team has been decimated by injuries and is NOT the Colts team we are all used to. They are beatable, especially if this team is riding a 3 game winning streak and can sense the fact they may be on the verge of something historic. And of course Philly is playing lights out...but playing division games...playing divisions games against teams who we HAVE to beat to overtake...playing division games against a team we beat 3 times last year....PLUS Romo will be back....I like our chances.

But if you lose to the Saints, you pretty much know you are done. If you beat them, it is ON!

Point of order...when after the surrender of Iraq following Desert Storm, a Brigade of Elite Guard attempted to break out and away from the surrendered troops. It was opposed by two Battalion sized US forces. They not only bottle necked the entire lines and flanks, but averaged three confirms the first eight seconds of the engagements. Those were bad odds also....but a victorious group of Tanks and Cobras.

If we are going to get there, we must play a whole bunch better on DEFENSE. The G-men moved with ease against us, as have a lot of folks of late.

Some sort of homefield advantage has to start (cough) kicking into considerations at some point...THIS season.
