If you’re like me, here’s all you previously knew about Kellen Moore:
  • Boise State QB, most wins in NCAA history
  • Mediocre 6-year NFL career as a backup QB in DET/DAL, including some time as Dak’s backup
  • DAL QB coach last year, OC this year
And that’s about it.

So I looked up his Wiki page and found this gem:

“His father, Tom, was the head coach at Prosser High School from 1986 to 2008, winning 21 league titles and four state championships. Every day during football season, he and younger brother, Kirby, who also played at Boise State as a wide receiver, went from the elementary school to their dad's football practice. As his father remembered in a 2011 interview, ‘He'd always have a little notepad with him. He was always drawing plays.’ In his final two years of high school, his father let him call his own plays.”

Guy’s been ready to call plays since high school!

Another cool fact I learned from his Wiki page: he played with his brother Kirby, a WR, in high school and at Boise State. Kirby Moore scored 95 career receiving TDs in high school, which still stands as the national all-time HS record.

Yeah the Moore's are a notorious football family in Washington State.

I've always liked Kellen. He's definitely got the football acumen, but lacked the God-given ability to make that translate into NFL success as a player.

Dude had 50 wins in college -- that's gonna be hard to beat.

Glad he's a Cowboy.

Picked on and harassed as a QB buy many of the same posters/fans cheering him now.......noddle arm they called him. In fact, many here even hated the idea of him being Daks QB coach last year and hated, even more, his OC promotion. No sense naming names, but goes to show how wrong we as fans can be.

I live in Boise. The guy is pretty much a god here. People sweep the sidewalk in front of him as he walks down the street. haha He was a good kid here and was tagged as a coach in the making since he got here. I think everybody knew he had the football IQ but just didn't have the prototypical NFL QB body. He really was a fantastic college QB and he had some really good teams here at Boise State in his days. I think 2011 may have been his best team, but unfortunately, he was robbed short by being tethered to a terrible kicker (still have no idea why Peterson had that player on the roster).

The guy had ice in his veins. I knew he was going to be something special when he went into Autzen Stadium and beat Oregon as a freshman QB. For example, here is a hype video of him going into Virginia Tech hostile territory and doing his thing. Watch "the drive" at the end (about 6:33). :D

It's why I said in another thread, Kellen Moore is living a dream. He's about to unleash an offensive explosion of creativity that NFL hasn't seen since Mike Martz days IMO.

It's nice to think that our coaching may actually give us an advantage this year.

It did in week 1. I haven't seen a defense look that confused so consistently since Garrett took over.

We didn't need Dak to run around for 15 seconds to find a guy. We didn't need Dez going up over a player.. We didn't need to run Zeke 35 times...

We just had guys running free because they were schemed open and we were taking advantage of a team that was way to focused on the run game.

No question........notice how 3rd downs weren't issues at all Sunday. Another point and maybe it's just me but seem we played a whole faster offensively. In fact, there were a few times we had no huddles.....

Haven't been around here much anymore or at least not commenting but man!! How bout those Cowboys and Kellen Moore!!

That was exactly the types of things I was hoping for with this offense. I know many of had been complaining about the predictability incessantly. Have to admit though, even though the change was made and Kellen was speaking a language I understood and seemed to "get" the concept of being unpredictable, I still deep down didn't expect to see anything different and all was going to be the same.

Glad I was wrong. Thank You Kellen Moore!! That was a something of beauty

I'm still glad he's not the QB Coach. Just shoulda been promoted to OC sooner IMO. Wondering how last season plays out differently. Oh well, speculation is all I have.

I think Kitna is better as a qb coach and Kellen is better as a OC
