Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw has been jailed in Virginia since June 15 for an undisclosed probation violation.
Bradshaw reported to jail voluntarily, but he remains incarcerated. He was sentenced to two years of probation for misdemeanor petty larceny while attending Marshall due to stealing a PlayStation game from another student. No further details on his situation are currently available.

Bradshaw situation could get interesting

by Mike Garafolo Thursday June 19, 2008, 1:06 PM

It's only been a matter of minutes since news broke of Ahmad Bradshaw's being jailed because of a reported parole violation, but I can't help but think of how this might affect his situation and Brandon Jacobs' future with the Giants. Remember, Jacobs is entering the final year of his contract and is looking for a big payday. The Giants have been unwilling to go anywhere near the numbers Jacobs is looking for. Part of their reasoning is likely because Bradshaw is there as insurance.
But don't forget about GM Jerry Reese's vow that Bradshaw would be on a "short leash", something he's said many times over the past year. "I won't let you down," was Bradshaw's reply and Reese has said that was a sufficient response.
Again, we have to see what this is all about. Could be just some kind of misunderstanding here. But then again, it might not be.
More to come.

I can all but promise you it won't make a bit of difference to the Giants unless he is the one that threw Pacman's buddy off the roof.

That is disheartening.

AHMAD BRADSHAW BEHIND BARS

Posted by Mike Florio on June 19, 2008, 2:38 p.m.

Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw, a 2007 rookie who came on strong during the team’s improbable playoff run, is behind bars due to an “undisclosed probation violation.”

As a freshman, Bradshaw was booted from the University of Virginia football program after being nabbed for underage drinking, running from cops, and ending up on the wrong end of a cloud of pepper spray.

At Marshall, he was placed on probation for two years after pleading guilty to stealing a Playstation 2 from an unlocked dorm room.

Bradshaw has been confined to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail since Saturday, June 15.

Edit Mods please merge with HHRoys thread please, didn't see before.

He didn't get a jail sentence; he only got probation. That's not a harsh punishment for stealing.

I hope the probation violation that has landed him in jail is for theft. Then we can chant: "Little Ahmad's gone to prison for taking something that wasn't his'n." Just kidding!

GIANTS SAY BRADSHAW ARREST COMES FROM OLD INCIDENT

Posted by Mike Florio on June 19, 2008, 3:58 p.m.

The New York Giants have addressed the unfortunate incarceration of running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who has been in jail since Saturday.

Here’s the team’s statement, via Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger: “We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Ahamd’s [sic] legal representative. This situation is not the result of any recent incident. It stems from an issue that occurred prior to Ahmad being drafted by the Giants. Beyond that, we have no further comment.”

Still, a guy just doesn’t get thrown in jail for doing nothing. Even if it isn’t a new crime (alleged or otherwise), he has at a minimum violated the express terms that allowed him to avoid going to jail.

So we don’t think much of the team’s “don’t hold it against us” routine. When attempting to stay out of trouble, a guy needs to know what will get him into trouble. For a person on probation, there are extra things that need to be done, and to be avoided, to keep the guy free.

In Bradshaw’s case, he either did something he shouldn’t have done, or failed to do something he should have done.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t currently be eating his meals off the finest tin money can buy.

If that is Virginia, then yeah that makes sense. You do time in Va for shoplifting. However, Marshall is in West Virginia:confused:

UPDATE: On the bright side, Bradshaw’s current lodging arrangements provided him with an iron-clad alibi in connection with the death of Sadia Morrison, whose web site lists Bradshaw as one of her clients. (For hair styling.) Thanks to the readers who pointed this out.

Just In!!!

The attorney for Ahmad Bradshaw confirmed Thursday that his client is in jail due to a probation violation stemming from Bradshaw's college days.

Bradshaw will be in jail for 30 days, retroactive to June 15, for a crime he committed while still a juvenile. "Mr. Bradshaw has not been charged with any offense since being drafted by the New York Giants," the lawyer said. Bradshaw will be released July 15th and ready for training camp.

You're telling me. I've seen Police Officers just turn their heads to possession of much worse things than a stolen game.

I'll never be visiting Marshall. I would hate to get scooped up and thrown in the slammer with an extended amount of probation for littering or jaywalking.
