I'm not sure who I would rather see back there against Owens, Madison or Ross.
Madison is more physical and plays closer to the LOS, bumping Owens off his route and not letting him get a clean jump on his routes. This limits Owens' ability to be consistent in the passing game. If Owens can break past him then we should see some big plays as Madison lacks that catchup/recovery speed .
Ross, on the other hand, is quicker and has better coverage skills downfield and is less likely to get beaten deep. He plays off the LOS and will allow stuff in front of him. We can be more consistent in getting short passes but will see fewer big plays.
Either way we can have success but it will require Garrett to gameplan for one or the other and for Owens to be comfortable with what he can get. If Owens gets frustrated early then he is generally significantly less productive.
As for last year's loss to Seattle, that had more to do with our sorry defense being unable to stop the Seahawks than with anything the offense did or didn't do. Parcells' conservative, play-not-to-lose mentality kept us from attacking their yard-sale secondary but we still should have won that game anyway if we could have stopped them.
