I know everyone is down on the Giants.

But there is talent on that team....especially at WR and TE. If Manning can avoid spazzing out, then the Giants will be tough to beat.

Defensively, they always seem to play well enought...especially in the secondary.

I know most seem to think we'll beat them by three TDs....but when was the last time we handled the Giants? They always come to play when they meet us.

it sure did look like it

I did too.

Things I saw while watching the starters:

Giants were getting manhandled on Defense. They were getting pushed back and were getting issolated inside while the rb ran outside for big yardage. One thing. Eli did what he had to do on the 25 yard drive. Got the TD to Shockey. However, 3rd and whatever, he missed a wide open receiver that killed a drive. This was vintage Eli. Rest assured, he is still the inaccurate passer we all know and love. Jacobs. He looked ok maybe even good on one run for 7 yds. He is not close to the back that Tiki is. Wearing down a defense with his size... I will have to see it.

Direct quote from the Giants board. Needless to say, I could provide many more:

WOW, we cannot tackle at all! They are running all over us.

OR

wow. The whole DL and LB groups just got plowed over at once and Foster ran for a very long run. Not good at all.

OR

Run defense is horrible. Glad it's preseason game one but this is troubling.

OR

Hehe. . .Tim Lewis must be chuckling on the sidelines. After all, he was the reason for all the Giants woes last year. Right?
This team is already an embarrasment. The D is last year's D. Sigh. . .Coughlin is gone by Halloween!

OR

strahan would help but one player isnt going to make that big of a difference, the whole defense is getting dominated right now, they need to put a lot of work in to get ready for the season but i think based on last years performance we all expected this.

OR

I know its only pre-season, but we will come up against much better backs than Deshaun Foster. the Panthers RBs are averaging 12+ yards a carry...

Not gonna happen. Eli was a severe disappointment last year even though he had Tiki behind him, who was the sole reason for New York having the 7th best Running Game in the NFL in 2006. Who's going to take the heat off of Eli this year? Brandon Jacobs? Reuben Droughns?

If anything-Tiki also wrecked their locker room down the stretch(even more so than TO did in Philly/SF). Their injuries, as significant as they were, had nothing to do with some of these losses(i.e. TN, Philly, New Orleans, and yes Us).

I was also amazed by Tiki's lack of effort in some of those games. In the 2nd Philly/New Orleans games, he gave some half*** blocking on blitzes that stalled some good looking drives.

Frankly-it wouldn't surprise me at all if by wk 4 of the season, the national media will be running stories how "The Giants finally have a peaceful locker room".

I'll grant you that there were major problems in the Giants' lockerroom last year but, in terms of fault, Tiki's part in it was minimal. The major culprit of the continued team hostility that exists for New York is still there and he goes by the name of Coughlin. It's not unusual for some players to dislike their coach. What is unusual is when a healthy portion of the players hate their coach with such a passion that they dub him "Mein Fuhrer," as many Giants' player reportedly did last year. As long as Coughlin's dictatorship is still running the show, all the discontent in that lockerroom isn't going away.
