The Giants announced late Friday that MLB Antonio Pierce will be out indefinitely after a bulging disc was discovered in Pierce's neck.

Pierce was "shocked" by the news. He practiced in full Friday, but felt discomfort afterwards and was hospitalized for tests. An MRI revealed the injury, which may threaten Pierce's season. His loss is a blow to a Giants run defense that has underachieved all year. Chase Blackburn will likely take over in the middle, with Michael Boley now healthy at weak-side linebacker. Wow.

He's not the best athlete, but he's the brain of their defense on the field. They're gonna miss him.

Yep. Gonna miss his presence more than his play. He's not the guy getting it done most of the time but he sure as hell talks a big game and gets people jacked up.

That sucks. He is a old and slow. He is a liability now. I thought we could take advantage of him, like teams have been doing the last 4 weeks. The guy who replaces him, has to be a upgrade over Pierce.

Aww crap, this will just be an excuse.

Pretty much. That does suck.

Best of luck to him. Never wish debilitating injury on anyone.

could NOT agree more SLATE...couldn't happen to a bigger scumbag: unless his name was Brandon Jacobs.....LOL

That's my take on it but we could be wrong.

What's with the Pierce hate? I've always known Jacobs was an ***, but Pierce never seemed too offensive. What did I miss?

Isn't that the same thing that ended Moose's career?

he used to talk a lot of trash about us until Jacobs and Tuck took up the mantra

mostly in '07

btw, Chase Blackburn is no slouch, he's pretty active

They're all cry-baby's.
I love it around the office these days, where the common refrain is '**** the Cowboys'. :laugh2:

BYEEEEEE

Antonia Pierce is a piece of ****. Justice served.

Justice served because he has a neck injury? Very classy.

As for his replacement. The leadership role definitely will be hurt here as he put people in the right place a lot of the time. What will be an improvement is the athleticism of whoever replaces him. It may be Goff who is very athletic. Just not sure how he will handle the rest of his responsibility.

I thought Pierce wasn't having a good year anyway?, that's what I hear all the time on WFAN.

I agree, that comment is tasteless. Sometimes we forget that these athletes aren't politicians, they're football players. Trash talking is often used as a form of motivation for these guys. Part of the game if you ask me.

But obviously this news isn't good for the Giants, regardless of Pierce's recent performance. I mean, the Giants are hoping to recuperate from going into the bye week with 4 straight losses, so this news has got to be some sort of a mental letdown. We'll find out when they play the Falcons, but I heard Michael Turner will be out. :grrr:
