Giants/Philly, GB/Min, Atl/NO

I still havent decided who to root fot.

Basically a question of whether you think Dallas is a WC caliber team or division winner caliber.
Easy. Philly Over NY. Atlanta over N.O.. And G.B. over the Vikings. Though, considering ther perspective play, a betting man will lean towards the opposite conclusion.

They way I see it is like this:

As a fan of the Cowboys, I am not ready to concede anything to anyone. Mathematically we can still get the division, homefield advantage and all of that good stuff.

On the other hand, as we saw last year, nothing is guaranteed. At this point in the season I am more worried about making it in to the playoffs rather than the seed that enter as. Last year all we talked about was would we win the game once we got in, rather than actually worrying about making it in. I do not want to make that mistake again. With this in mind, I've got to root for the decisions that improve our chances most for getting in, not getting a first round bye.

The NYG/PHI game is good for us either way, I just want to see these two teams beat up on each other. We still have 5 more divisional games this season, so we control our own destiny as far as that goes.

I will be rooting for New Orleans in the NO/ATL game just because Atlanta is a bigger threat to keeping us out of the playoffs at this point in the season. We own the tiebreaker on ATL so that helps out a lot, but any breathing room that we can get now, will help my nerves towards the end of the season.

Using this same logic, I will be rooting for Minnesota in the MIN/GB game. We still get to play the Packers later this year, so that looms as another game that could have playoff implications. I believe that Minnesota wins the division so creating space between us and GB could prove pivotal in earning a spot in the playoffs.

No kidding. Why would we concede anything at 4-2? Because a bunch of ninnies were losing their minds when we were 2-2 a few weeks ago?

As for the game, since I don't know which would help us most yet, I'll go for the Giants. Evem though the Giants have gained on them the last few years, I still hate the Eagles more than any team.

True, for the most part the Cowboys control their own fate right now.

I'm against that, but he'll probably play against the Cowboys too!

Good, Westbrook seems to get shut down when he sees the Cowboys... put him in!!

I'm rooting for Philly so that the game in Philly next week is for the division lead. Anything to make that payback more interesting.

Gotta root for Philly so we are playing for sole possession of first place next week should we beat Seattle.

I think a New Orleans win is more helpful, but we really need them to drop at least one game before we play them and this is as good a time as any.

Can't really lose either way, because if New Orleans separates themselves from their division Atlanta is really in a struggle to pass us for a wildcard at that point. Only problem being I don't think we want a team like New Orleans at home for the playoffs... we need to get them here or outside somewhere to struggle with the elements. I'd feel safer with a New Orleans win here.

Green Bay or Minnesota- again similar situation, but if we play well in GB we should win that game. Plus, I think Minnesota has a few more losses in their tank to go before all is said and done. I'll root for the Packers, for homefield considerations because I do think Minnesota will end up winning the division.

I really hope our players will be foaming at the mouth all game come Philly.

I wanna see them crush McNabb into the dirt, and then some.

...well the most important piece of the Giants secondary won't be there when Dallas goes to the Meadowlands, namely Kenny Phillips [IR], which has been a HUGE loss for them...Boley is probably their fastest LB but he's been battling injury himself...they are going to have to find a way to stablize the secondary somehow because their pass rush is looking rather impotent over the last two games...Canty should return soon though i'm not sure how much it will utimately help them...they must've been terrified playing the Saints and it showed...you can blitz but as Miami found out, it only works for so long before a sub-par secondary gets exposed...NYG vs. PHI will definitely be interesting...without Westbrook i give the nod to the Giants but if he's playing i'd call it a toss up...

...that said, the Giants need this game more because a third consecutive loss will bring some serious discontent as NY will have dropped to third place in the division after a 5-0 start, assuming Dallas takes care of Seattle...the knives will come out...

Nice post. Best thing about the game is someone has to lose. Hopefully it will be the Giants but I'll take a loss of either as good news.

Eagles over Giants - so we can get closer to winning the Division.

Vikings over Packers - Green Bay will be in the running for the WC (but I'm still hoping we win the East)

Falcons over Saints - we have the tiebreaker over Atlanta

Just my opinion.

If Philly beats NY and we beat SEA, that game's gonna be an awesome grudge match. This Philly OL won't be able to stop our rush, at least. And I predict at least one debilitating hit in the secondary on Desean Jackson.

saints have a lot of easy games remaining and will get a bye no matter what. wouldn't it be better for atlanta to lose? there is a higher chance they get a better record than us than the saint's not getting a bye.

That's definitely true. But I'm sticking with my prediction, regardless, because I really want to see that snot separated from a ball when he's not just hot dogging near the goal line.

Purely from a statistical standpoint, I'd like to see Philly beat the Gnats.. making a 3 way tie for 1st place at 5 - 3. (Provided we beat Seattle which I strongly feel we will.) And NO beat Atlanta. Currently we're tired with Atlanta for a Wild Card spot, separated only by our head to head victory over them. So let's knock them down a notch. GB vs. Minny... GB is also tied with us for a WC spot so I hope Minny runs away with the division and knocks GB down another peg.
