It’s happening. If he is there. He will be a giant. Does this scare you having to face styles, twice a year?

He could be fantastic, but if hes picked by the Giants I'll hang my hat on the fact he is still developing and may not have the instincts etc.

I wanted him badly, but at this point I think id prefer Downs. When front office people say things like the moment you draft him hes your smartest player and the face of the franchise I cant help but take notice.

The Giants and Washington are going to take guys that will be good. My nightmare has always been the Giants drafting Styles or Downs and Washington get Love. Of course my worst nightmare happened 3 years ago with Philadelphia getting Carter for a bag of peanuts and two years ago getting the best two secondary players in the draft by sitting.

No!
Right now he's all athleticism and very little instincts.
He's not going to be able to rely solely on athleticism in this league.
Currently he is the similar player as Jamin Davis coming out (many here spazzed when Washington picked him), someone who should go in the 15-20 range and not top 5.
I'd be relieved if they took him instead of Love.
Love makes their offense quasi legitimate.
Quasi legitimate makes the legitimate for a wildcard which makes them a much bigger threat to us with the Eagles currently at the top of the devision!

Is he going to be any better than some of the defenders that played for the Cowboys divisional rivals in the past?

Giants Lawrence Taylor? The Cowboys won two Super Bowls during his career.

Commanders Sean Taylor? The Cowboys were 4-4 against the Commanders with Taylor in their lineup.

Eagles Reggie White? He was still playing for the Eagles when the Cowboys won the Super Bowl after the 1992 season.

Besides, I haven't seen anyone using the word "generational" to describe him. I have a picture in my mind of our guards, Booker and Smith, mowing him down.

If he ends up on the Giants, he will be a thorn, for sure. The severity just depends on the state of the Cowboys at the time.

I noticed how you left out that Styles is better than Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White.

All those people you mentioned were washed up by the mid 90’s. Lt was washed up after 1987

Absolutely doesn’t scare me. I don’t think an off ball LB would ever scare an opposing fan.

Pass rushers are a different story. Those guys can change a game.
This is why I do not want to give up 2 first rounders to trade up for an off ball linebacker, unless we plan on having him rush the passer on the money downs. Sonny isn't Parsons.

Lawrence Taylor:

1988 1st Team All-Pro, Pro Bowl
1989 1st Team All-Pro, Pro Bowl
1990 Pro Bowl

1988- 15.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles in 12 games
1989- 15 sacks, 4 forced fumbles in 16 games
1990- 10.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 INT, TD in 16 games
1991- 7 sacks, 2 forced fumbles in 14 games
1992- 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles in 9 games

1993 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles in 15 games

Playoffs after 1987-2.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, Super Bowl championship.

Lawrence Taylor was not an EDGE. He was a LB.

Taylor retired after the 1993 season. Statistics on tackling were not recorded until 1994.

However, from personal observation.....that guy was everywhere.

He's the reason everyone got excited when some in the media claimed that Micah Parsons was "the next Lawrence Taylor."

Lawrence Taylor was a beast right up to his last game in 1993........a game in which he sacked Troy Aikman in the 4th quarter of a Cowboys overtime win.....the same game Emmitt Smith gained 168 yards on 32 carries with a partially separated shoulder.

Taylor is the standard. Even if he has a great career, I don't believe that Sonny Styles will match that standard, nothing against him.

This happens all the time, almost every draft, "He's the next this, he's the next that". All I'm saying is maybe we should give the guy ten years before we start making those comparisons. It's not even fair to Styles.

I love the player because then as long as the O can stay healthy, you have 2 LB’s that can go sideline to sideline like no one business. Bring back the LB’s use to have in the 90’s.

Giants arent taking an off ball linebacker at 5.

It will be Downs or Love, 1000%

I took the post comparing them as sarcasm. You mean he was serious?
