Don't flatter yourself- I've never been to ES and never will and why would I?

Where'd I say anything about ES?

That comment about the star means when the cowboys are good, i see nothing but bandwagoning cowboy fans who dust off their cowboy gear from the aikman era.

I don't think it's primarily Gregg Williams. I do think he's a great DC. But a few years back the Commanders had Marvin Lewis as their DC when Spurrier was the HC and they sucked. And Lewis was considered by most to be the best DC in the league.

Now, just like in the 80's, Washington is playing tough football, but they are also getting all the calls and bounces like the old days. Tip a pass and it lands in Arrington's arms. TB fumbles and it rolls right to a Commander. Conversely, right after TB cut it to 17-10, the Commanders fumbled near mid-field and several players had a chance and it bounces right back to Brunell. Plus Gibbs whining his first year and a half back has seemed to pay dividends. The last month and a half, just about every close call goes his way. It almost makes you sick. I guess the league got tired of getting tapes in the mail every week and listening to the crying.

What does that have to do with his comment about other teams popping out of the woodwork, so to speak? Except they seem to pay more attention to our team than their own sometimes. For example, you're a skins fan, but just look at your sig.

That's funny. In the late 80's or early '90's didn't the Commanders actually have a fan group called the 'Bandwagon'? I remember seeing "The Bandwagon" Commanders bumper stickers - like they were proud of it.

That was during the 1991 Commanders SB winning season, and stemmed from the famous Tony Kornheiser column written throughout the season (before he and Wilbon decided to spend all day long on TV and radio, neglecting their primary employer).

Gibbs, among many other improvements he has made to this organization, is the one who figured out how to utilize Santana Moss after years of underachieving in New York and turned Portis into a more complete back rather than just being an outside runner. Before this season, nobody gave a damn about Santana Moss and he was considered nothing more than a glorified punt returner, a product of the "U". He finished 2nd only to Steve Smith as the most dominant wide receiver in the league.

Gibbs also completely changed the culture of defeatism and selfishness that dominated this town for 12 years and returned a sense of pride to an oft-humiliated ballclub when everyone said he couldn't do it. All after 1 year.

With all the hype and praised being lavished upon Gibbs, I ask....Is it him or Williams really leading that team....

Well, the devil is in the details.

Gibbs offense is good old fashion smash mouth football complete with an H-Back to boot.

I think he is pretty old fashion as far as his play calling, which isnt that bad of a thing to be.

I think the players on the roster respect Gibbs and would do anything for him (maybe not Sean T), but Gregg Williams really is the one that gives them their identity.

One of the best Defensive Schemers in the league, and just knows how to attack your weakness.

I mean, those guys put up 120 yards of offense and still came up with the Victory because of how their defense played.

I cant stand those guys, but man, it is a joy to watch how Gregg Williams cause a defensive game....he had ex-Cowboy, Omar Stoutmire looking real good on those safety blitzes.

Honestly, I see it as a combo of both.
Gibbs needed updating, Williams needed to learn how to be a better coach.

Commanders players exemplify a Gibbs coached teams, personalities like quiet leaders like Moss (Monk) , boisterous leaders like Portis (Riggins), and role players who know their role.

Defensively the players have taken on the mentality that Williams brings to the table. Only we can beat ourselves type of thing.

You can really make a case that its both. Last Week it was Williams, but what about when the Skins were putting up 30+ points.

Williams is proving he is one of the best Defensive minds in the business...Yall just better hope that your offense racks up more than 10 (3 when you really think about it) points against Seattle. Philip Daniels wont look all pro against Walter Jones
