Gibbs Gets Another One Up On Parcells

Your Zimmer hate is funny, he is one of the better DC's in the NFL and most NFL people know that, even if some morons in the fan base may not
You gotta be kidding me. :lmao2:

Mike Zimmer has averaged a top 10 defense in his tenure, as much as you people dog him, he is still a very good coordinator

In 2 strike shortened seasons, you forgot to mention that!

Rrrright, because Joe Gibbs fielded the only team those years and no other team even tried to win those years:rolleyes:

the skins have Greg WIlliams and we have Zimmer.

that's the main difference...

Mike Zimmer could have a Hall of Famer at every position on defense and we would still suck at forcin turnovers and gettin pressure on QBs. I have already said it....but if we had any other DC then Mike Zimmer then Ware woulda had at least 12 sacks and won DROY.

The big reason Merriman won the DROY and Ware didnt is that Merriman did not have Zimmer holding him back.

Jason Campbell had the great fortune of having not one, but two top 5 [icks in the backfield with him. Couple that with one of the best O-lines in college football and the best defense in college football, and you get a player who seems much better than he is.

He also had the misfortune of learning 4 different offensive systems in 4 years and STILL succeeding. Campbell couldn't do it without Brown or Williams? Watch the Virginia Tech game his senior year.

And let's, for arguments sake, say that you are right. Then my argument of him succeeding would still be validated by your arguments. He would have the great RB (Portis), a good OL, and one of the best defenses in the league. I guess we would get a player that "seems much better than he is". I think I'd be content with that.

Two asterick seasons.

Never know how it may have played out if a full 16 game schedule had been played. Those seasons, not everyone played each other home and away in their divisions. In '82, Dallas didn't get a chance to play their home game against Washington and they did win the game in DC. The seedings would likely been different and probably some different teams even making the playoffs.

Give me a break. The Skins had more talent on their team when Gibbs took over.

Starters that Joe has brought in:

Defense
Walt Harris CB
Sean Taylor FS
Pierson Prioleau SS
Shawn Springs CB
Marcus Washington OLB
Cornelius Griffin DT
Joe Salave'a DT
Phillip Daniels DE

Offense
Mark Brunell QB
Clinton Portis RB
Santana Moss WR
James Thrash WR
Ray Brown T
Casey Rabach C
Chris Cooley FB

Now I hate the Commanders as much as anyone, but show me where the talent was that he had? Lets not forget that Joe Gibbs has been at this a year less than BP.

Joe had the kind of mess to work with Bill had. Only difference is he has accomplished more in two years than Bill has in three.

What system? Turn and hand the ball off the Cadillac on 1st down. Turn and hand it off to Ronnie Borwn on 2nd down. If need be, complete a 3 yard out of 3rd down to get the first.

Portis is not great, Alexander, LT, Edge are great. Portis is good. He vanishes at times. Washington's O-Line is old and very average at times. It's no comparison to Auburn 2004.

Isn't there another LB that got injured?

It is not that simple to go 13-0 as a QB, no matter who you have in the backfield. Again, look at the Nokia Sugar Bowl against VT. Brown and Cadillac were shut down and Campbell put the team on his shoulders to win the MVP of the bowl to cap off an undefeated season. He knows how to win.

Portis' production is either on par of or not too far off those guys. 1500+ yards in 3 out of his first 4 seasons put him with elite company. And the fact the he is only 24 and hasn't yet even reached his prime is downright scary. LT, EJ, and SA are in their primes. Couple that with the fact that every original starter on our OL is UNDER 30 and can only get better by playing another season together and you have some "valid" reasons why Campbell would "look better than he really is" in the NFL.

Ray Brown is what, 87?

I remember Tee Martin going 13-0 as a QB and winning the National Championship. He was a good college QB and a great team. Period.

Was he put into a position where he could succeed in the NFL (i.e a QB friendly system that produced 3 SB winning QBs)?
