Gibbs Gets Another One Up On Parcells

The NFC East is back. Dallas was a game away from a playoff spot, and Philly was banged up.

Best division in the NFL.

Next year is up for grabs.

Yeah that last off season really sucked for us. God I can't believe we sat on our *** like that and did nothing to improve our team. Man we suck so bad it is unbelievable.

Throwing mega dollars at old broken down vets isnt my idea of a productive offseason.

Its not even close to a fact, its a purely bogus statement based on one season and one game.

The Skins offense was really creative today, Gibbs' sure rocks. He has a serviceable offensive line and all they could manage was 120 yards of total offense. Give me a break coaches can only do so much. I doubt you were crying about creativeness in the beginning of the year before Flo got hurt and the Oline fell apart.

What is bogus about this. Tell me. It is FACT that Gibbs has won a playoff game in his 2nd season. It is a fact that Parcells has not won a playoff game in 3 seasons in Dallas.

That is not bogus it is just fact.

Maybe Parcells will turn things around this offseason and do everything right but till he actually DOES and actually goes with some players under 100 years old Gibbs is just a better coach.

Only winning 3 more game this year to last year really sucks doesn't it.

And we're going to improve enough to make the playoffs next season with the same cast of aging vets a year older?

Not to mention, Parcells is a poor, yes I said it a POOR gameday coach. Horrible adjustments, uncreative playcalling and game plan philosophy.

Wishful thinking!

Just need to give up. That's the problem with team boards. Why it's great to be around fans of your team, they always seem to be 90% homer and 10% realist.

Come on guys, the difference between the Skins and Cowboys is not that huge. It basically came down to 1 game! Reading some posts, it's like we're a 6-10 team.

And are the Skins really going to improve next season? Maybe. But here's another angle,

They have no first rounder
They are way over the cap. Sure, they always find a way to circumvent the cap, but end of the day, they are going to have to likely release guys like Arrington as well.

Seriously, with a reliable FG kicker, we'd be in the post-season as well.

That said, the Skins got hot at the right time, and we didn't.

What is bogus is youre saying Gibbs won ONE playoff game in his 2nd season so he must be a better coach than BP. BP like Larry Brown in the NBA is willing to take a horrible teams and EVERY single time he has turned them into playoff teams and SB contenders in just a few years. You argument has no merit in my opinion and is a knee jerk reactioin to this years disappointing season. If he Gibbs is the better coach lay out some details and provide some inisight not just a bogus statement based on the short term effects of 2 different situations.

:hammer:

Fact is Gibbs has done alot more in less time then Parcells has. Peeps in here can hate it as much as they want but it is still a fact.

Youre 100% pessimist not realist even though u might think otherwise.

I think after this season of collapse we're all entitled to be a little pessemistic.

Some of you guys remind me of the pack of dudes running behind Forest Gump. Waiting for Parcells to utter one word, believing he can do no wrong.

Im sorry, you dont "rebuild" a team with Vinny Testeverde or Drew Bledsoe as your starting QB's.

Parcells has built a team to win now (Rivera, Keyshawn, Glenn, Vinny, Bledsoe, Campbell). It hasnt worked. To call this a rebuilding effort is a joke. Every hope Parcells has at winning a championship here is riding on his over the hill gang, which by the way, are aging more and more as we speak.

Here's the problem... Parcells has been rebuilding for one year while being pressured to win. When he came in, there was a pressure to win form the beginning and he did that with Qunicy at the helm. Pretty impressive. So fans expected another winning season last year, and believed he could do it. When he didn't then he realized there had to be some rebuilding done, but there's still a pressure to win.

I don't see how you can sit there with a straight face and say that Parcells hasn't been rebuilding. I forget the stats, but how many players from Bill's first day are still on the roster? 5-10? That's what I call cleaning house, rebuilding, etc. The fact that he's been finding old QBs to plug in just means that there's been pressure to win while he's been rebuilding. You can't expect an entire roster of inexperienced players. You gotta have a mix of veterans and young guys. Bledsoe brought experience and leadership to the offense this year, something you have to have when trying to teach young guys to play the game. For all these old gys who you say are in here to win now I can point out five young guys who are clearly here to make the Cowboys better for the future... JJ, Witten, Crayton, Roy, TNew, James, Ware, Spears, Petitti etc. etc. If what you want is a team without veterans then go be a Houston Texans fan. Have fun with your two wins per year. You have to have a mix of experience and youth to win in this league.

Every coach makes mistakes I dont care who they are, I just dont sit around waiting for it to happen so I can pounce on him and tell the whole world what a loser he is.

Not bogus. It is TRUE! If BP had won a playoff game in his 2nd year and Gibbs was in his 3rd year with the Skins and did the exact things that Parcells has done here everyone in this forum would be sayin how much better Parcells is.

Fact is..it is Gibbs who has done alot more in less time the Parcells.

BP like Larry Brown in the NBA is willing to take a horrible teams and EVERY single time he has turned them into playoff teams and SB contenders in just a few years.

When Gibbs took over the Commanders they were not exactly a good team. They sucked.

Well obviously detail will be a waste of time with you since you think FACT is bogus but I will waste some time again.

1. Gibbs has done more in less time then Parcells.

2. When the Skins come to play they look prepared and ready and just better. With our team half the games we play we look like we have been playin XBox for a week instead of practicing and preparing for the game.

Gibbs Commanders are more fired up and ready to play.

3. Again....Gibbs in his 2nd year has won a playoff game. Parcells in his 2nd year lead this team to a 6-10 record.

4. We are now playing catchup with the Skins. It should be the other way.

I'm confused, based on their recent tenures Gibbs has taken his team to the playoffs and won a game. Parcells has not.

Over the course of their career Gibbs has won 3 SB's and lost 1, coach of the year 3 times, 140-76-0 regular season record and a 17-5-0 in post-season

Parcells has won 3 SB's, coach of the year 2 times, 162-123-1 regular season record and 11-7 in post-season

What else do you want? Short term effects?

Clearly not addressing the RT and FS positions were mistakes, but I said the same thing last year about the CB position and Dline which were both successfully upgraded last offseason, so I am willing to see what happens and understand you can only do so much each offseason and Im glad he has a plan thinks things out and doesnt just go out and sign up a ton of over priced FA to try and win now. He is building this team to be successful for the long term, and it irritates me that most on this site are too impatient or just dont get it.

I have not once said Parcells is a loser. What I have said is Gibbs is just a BETTER COACH! That dont mean Parcells is a loser.

Then I will reserve arguing with you till Parcells leaves us next year a 35 year old QB, two 32+ WR's and a horrid OL with 3 members in their mid 30's.

Parcells has won 3 SB's, coach of the year 2 times, 162-123-1 regular season record and 11-7 in post-season

He's won 2, both with the Giants. 3 Super Bowl appearances, though.
