Gibbs Gets Another One Up On Parcells

I'm confused, based on their recent tenures Gibbs has taken his team to the playoffs and won a game. Parcells has not.

Over the course of their career Gibbs has won 3 SB's and lost 1, coach of the year 3 times, 140-76-0 regular season record and a 17-5-0 in post-season

Parcells has won 3 SB's, coach of the year 2 times, 162-123-1 regular season record and 11-7 in post-season

What else do you want? Short term effects?

Actually Parcells has only 2 Superbowls

None without Bill Bellicik

Sorry 2 wins and 1 lost.

Way to add fuel to the fire! lol

I am good at that ;)

But to add, I think Parcells will have your team rolling next year

The Cowboys of this year played many close games, the bounces gotta go your way again

What is bogus is youre saying Gibbs won ONE playoff game in his 2nd season so he must be a better coach than BP. BP like Larry Brown in the NBA is willing to take a horrible teams and EVERY single time he has turned them into playoff teams and SB contenders in just a few years. You argument has no merit in my opinion and is a knee jerk reactioin to this years disappointing season. If he Gibbs is the better coach lay out some details and provide some inisight not just a bogus statement based on the short term effects of 2 different situations.
Gibbs won three Super Bowls with three different starting QBs and three different running backs. That's pretty damn impressive compared to any coach ever.

What, he did not have to bring in "his guys" in their 30's to try and get the job done?

I think they're both very good coaches but I'd take Jimmy Johnson over either one in a heartbeat.

Fact is Gibbs has also done a better job of bringin in good coaches on his team. They have Williams we have that moron wuss Zimmer. Parcells coulda fired him and got a real DC in here but he didnt. THen again maybe that was a Jerry Jones move and not a BP move. Our OL coach is the dumbest in the NFL. They have a good one.

From havin the team prepared and ready to play down to the coaches he has brought in Gibbs has Parcells beat badly.

Some of you girls are funny lmao

Tampa lost this game. If it wasnt for a couple tampa Mistakes Skins are crying right now. 120 yards of Offense lmao whata great day

Give me a break. The Skins had more talent on their team when Gibbs took over.

the skins had crap then and they have crap now. Yet they still win.
Go look at their defensive personnel, Springs (who isn't real great) was out, Taylor and Arrington are the only really good players on that unit, yet they shut people down.
Portis (dennis rodman) is very overrated, so is brunnell, moss is their big playmaker. Cooley is good but not probowl good. Their OL is okay. Their roster is pretty underwhelming. In fact, I'd say its probably in the bottom half of the league. Yet they come out prepared and execute. Heck, they found a way to win this PLAYOFF game with their offense only generating 112 yards of total O and only 3 points. That is pretty lame but they got it done. That's coaching pure and simple as much as it pains me to say because i can't stand the whiner but he's getting it done. BP acts like he needs an allstar at every position to win. We had the personnel to finish with a much better record than we did. BP didn't get it done, Gibbs did with less talent IMO.

and for the record, that TB dude caught the ball, should've been a TD. He had it and controlled it while he took two steps and then his knee also hit before he hit the ground and the ball came out. The refs were looking at the play from the wrong figurative angle. I'm not saying it would've changed the outcome but I thought it was a TD even though it came out once he hit the ground. This only adds to my general hatred of the instant replay system.
They might as well do without it unless the do sweeping changes to it.

Do you really believe Parcells only buys the player groceries and not the coach groceries?

I didn't understand why they kept talking about the ground crap either. Two feet and a knee should be a catch.

Who cares. The prize is the championship. No doubt Gibbs is doing a good job. BP has more chapters left in his book.

They both will likely walk away next year. Sounds as if both their books will end at the same time.

I guess we will get TO.

The pressure is on now. I bet Jerrah was on the phone with Bill today.

Just like Vince Young after the Rose Bowl elevated him to #1 draft status, some of you guys are overhyping Gibbs based on his winning 1 post season game. Gibbs is a great coach and worthy of his Hall of Fame induction, where BP will join him one day, but Gibbs is not a better coach than Gibbs.

BP has taken 4 different teams that were non playoff contenders and turned them into just that. He won multiple superbowls with the Giants, had the Jets one game away from the superbowl and took the Pats to one. Now he has the Cowboys on the verge of the playoffs and who knows what else. Sure Gibbs got his team to the playoffs and got a very ugly win today, but I'm not ready to proclaim him a better coach.

If BP wins next season and Gibbs fails to make it to the playoffs then everyone will be proclaiming BP as the better of the two.

Why does muliple sound like so much more than 2? Hmmm

The Commander DEFENSE did ALL (pretty much as the first TD was gift wrapped down at the Tampa 5 yard line) the heavy lifting today and this makes Gibbs clearly better than Parcells? 2 gifts in the form of a tipped pick and a fumble returned for a TD and it was Gibbs' offense out there dominating the Bucs? I don't know what game you were watching but it's obviously not the same one I just watched. 25 net yards passing and a total net of 120 yards and Gibbs is that much better than our coach? I'd like for the Commanders to try that stunt up in Seattle next week and see how far it gets them. If you're gonna scream that anyone is better than Bill you should holler out GREGG WILLIAMS, but then again, we all know about all the Superbowls he won with Buffalo right? Gibbs is a great coach, I will readily admit that, but to say that he is clearly better than the present head coach of the Cowboys is going a bit far in my humble opinion.

I really dont give a FF about excuses for why the Skins won. Fact is they WON and they still have a chance at goin to the Super Bowl. You know maybe if the Commanders didnt get 35 points against us we woulda won.

Whatever. They won and they get to play in at least one more game. As many excuses as you make for why they won I would give anything for us to have won a playoff game today like they did.

A win is a win and there is no such thing as a bad win.

Silly me, I never realized it was a competition between Gibbs and Parcells.

BTW where were these threads when the Skins were losing 6 of 8?
