Gibbs Gets Another One Up On Parcells

Im sorry, you dont "rebuild" a team with Vinny Testeverde or Drew Bledsoe as your starting QB's.

Parcells has built a team to win now (Rivera, Keyshawn, Glenn, Vinny, Bledsoe, Campbell). It hasnt worked. To call this a rebuilding effort is a joke. Every hope Parcells has at winning a championship here is riding on his over the hill gang, which by the way, are aging more and more as we speak.

Mark Brunnell is what twenty? ;)

Give me a break. The Skins had more talent on their team when Gibbs took over.

Yes,,he had a lot more talent than BP. We were a player away from an arena team.

thats bologne! We had the leauges top ranked defense in Parcells first season and went to the playoffs. Thats what Parcells inherited. He was also the beneficiary of a good amount of cap space that we havent seen around these parts in a long time.

Gibbs on the other hand had what? Their backs were up against the wall as far as money and they had a bunch of underachieving malcontents running around.

Or is it the Greg Williams vs. Mike Zimmer effect? We still don't have a defense that can avoid giving up the big play. G. Williams didn't sign an 8 million year contract for no reason.

I think that's the biggest reason...

Look at the stats...Brunnell had what?...25 yrds passing yesterday and a as an offense, a total of 120 yrds the entire game. That offense ain't nothing to brag about.

Or maybe it's because we had a bad game against the top defense in the league, a defense that was playing in front of a frenzied home crowd and led by an all pro LB Derrick Brooks and Simeon Rice. They are a damn good team and they played their guts out but we made more plays and came out on top.

Let's put this in perspective: If our offense "ain't nothing to brag about" and it put up 35 points on you, what does that say about your defense?

Answer: Bucs got a good defense, you guys don't, better luck next year.

Translation, thank your lucky stars for 2 first quarter takeaways.

Congrats on the win but it sure looked to me like the Skins had some bounces their way. The better team on the field was Tampa, but hey that some times happens.

It is not a stupid post. It is a FACT.

2 years and Gibbs wins a playoff game and has his team lookin prepared and ready every game.

3 years with Parcells and we have yet to win a game and half the time our team plays it looks like they never even practiced or prepared for who they played.

I would take Parcells over most coaches but I would take Gibbs over Parcells.

But compare Gibbs first year back with Parcells first year in Dallas. Dallas made the playoffs and Gibbs didn't. BP was a better coach than Gibbs their first years, right?

Then the second years Gibbs is in and wins a game and Dallas is out. We'll see how good Gibbs is next year. I wouldn't bet against no playoffs for Washington next year and playoffs for Dallas, that's how crazy the NFC East will be.

I respect Parcells for the job he has done because this is a better team than when he arrived. He is not perfect and certainly has his flaws, but I think the team will be better next year than it is now. His way is to put together a bunch of big strong butt kickers and play basic football and wear you down and beat you with brute force.

Gibbs is more of a finesse coach and I think he has better people skills than BP and can motivate his players to higher accommplishment. His guys are jacked up sky high for games and they overachieve.

Both are great coaches, they just have different styles. The NFC East will be a pretty tough neighborhood for the next few years. Not having a first round draft choice will limit the Skins' ability to improve in the off-season somewhat and with salary cap problems soon to surface, Washington's time would seem to be now, moreso than later.

The whole thing is fun to watch.

Both men have had great success in the NFL,i don't
know how you could measure one over the other. Btw,
for what it worth, look at their head to head record, and
what does that count for?another stat?I believe any team
would do well with either man, that said, watch out for the
Boys next year.

Thanks, but I think our team played better overall. Offense got shut down, but aside from one pic, didn't make any mistakes. Special teams was decent. But the defense scored while theirs didn't. Did you see the way our defensive line dominated the Bucs? Cadillac Williams is a damn fine running back, and the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year, but he was bottled up, stripped, and we scored. We batted several balls in the air and were able to pick off two of them. Joey Galloway, who wreaked havoc on us last time, was completely taken out of the game and didn't get to flex his bicep like an idiot.

The rivalry between Gibbs and Parcells is a good one and it's good for football. The Cowboys are a solid offensive line away from contending again. That's it. Parcells knows it. He'll fix it this season, and that's bad news for us and the rest of the division.

Your Zimmer hate is funny, he is one of the better DC's in the NFL and most NFL people know that, even if some morons in the fan base may not

With the persennel we have defensively, how GODD do you think our defense would be with Gregg Williams here

And how well do you think Washington would be with Squiggy (Zimmer)

Williams is an innovator...Zimmer is passive, a follower with no creativity

Gregg Williams is the difference on why we sit and watch and Washington advances to round 2 of the playoffs

Why do you think we scream for a Jim Haslett, a Dom Capers defensively

Or a Norv Turner/Al Saunders offensively?

When Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson was around, we led the pack

Now, with Parcells, Zimmer, and Payton we are merely bystanders watching the league pass us by and lap us

Until this changes, we are simply a wildcard contender...nothing more

I might be different from any one else, I enjoy the whole division being strong. Competition is what makes the game fun to watch for me.
You are right in the fact that we need to fix the O line and that it will get done.
Heres to some good games in the near future. :D

You ever think that maybe Ware isn't good/smart enough yet to do anything but an outside rush? Maybe we got all out of Ware we could, for God's sake he was a stand up defensive end rushing in about 95% of the time. Do you really think if Parcells thought they should have used Ware any differently that it wouldn't have happened?

Totally subjective question that cant be answered

Wade Phillips has been a 3-4 guy and Zimmer hasnt been until this year

Parcells is only as good as his coordinators

Thats why he hasnt done **** without Belichick, thats why he hasnt done **** here with Payton and ZImmer, and thats why Washington goes to round 2

How long was Joe Gibbs away from the NFL ?

How many Championships did Parcells win during that time ?

Case Closed.

Why does muliple sound like so much more than 2? Hmmm

It simply means more than 1. Not trying to inflate BP's superbowl success in any way.

I am still glad Parcells is here in Dallas. It would be hard to find a better coach right now. But.....

....last year the Commanders looked like a ok team. This year they are getting better and better. In his 2nd year Gibbs has already won a playoff game with his Skins. In Parcells 3 years here he has yet to win just 1 playoff game with this team. Next year as much as I hate it I know the Skins will be good and probaly even better.

I am not sure what it is but Gibbs team just comes out lookin more ready to play and more prepared then Parcells team. Gibbs is just a better coach.

I think I am gonna give a little more credit to Greg Willliams than Gibbs... 122 yards on offense yesterday... scored 3 points... I dunno... I dont like we are home and they are playing.... wahhhh LOL

Not me, If I attended that game I would be asking for my money back.... one of the worst games to watch all season by far. Yes they won a playoff game but we shall see if they can win two, the Boys wouldve won against TB as well

The boys couldn't even whip the Rams and there are no meaningless games according to Purcells<spelled like Jerry speaks it>

Posts like this are just stupid in my opinion, its such a knee jerk reaction to one game / season. That like saying did you see that game / season Doug Williams had hes a better QB than John Elway. I guess Andy Reid is now a crappy coach and Jack Del - Rio is better than him cause hes in the playoffs.

I thought we had three seasons with Bill...

the first year we were 10-6 and in the playoffs with crap and more crap for players than we went 6-10 but hey we got rid of the crap and had better personnel and then with 2 first round picks and I don't know how many picks in the top whatever we went 9-7 and suffered the worse collapse after starting 7-3 in almost a half a century of football...

Gibbs is just going through the motions. He just relies on GW and his defense. He knows he'll get all the calls anyways after his incessant whining.
