At this point most of the “elite” RBs are rotational players.

Christian McCaffrey is no bell cow.

Guys like this can change a game at anytime.

This guy is like a Tyreek Hill at RB. Just figure it out.

Heck let him play a lot of WR. He can easily play some WR.
Which is another reason why you don’t pump a 1st round pick into the position.

I think drafting the RB is fine. It’s paying them a big contract when the rookie deal is up is the problem.

Long term? Of course it’s a bad investment but the Dak window is closing and if Dallas is ever going to win anything with him we will need an explosive run game to do it.

I think Jahmyr Gibbs is one of the most Dak friendly players in this draft.

A 5’10 QB is going #1 and he did a lot of checking down to Jahmyr Gibbs.

So I’m cool with a guard or whatever but the only player I see changing that game at San Fran is Bijan or Gibbs. Maybe even Achane.

Yup.

If you want smallish HR hitter get Achane or Mitchell later to be that guy.
Gibbs no doubt has real electric, home run ability, but I question if they will use him right. Pollard who was a receiver in college, never was apart of the team's passing game.

Gibbs would be a great choice if used properly. It’s the flexibility of both he and Pollard that is intriguing to me. The key will be to commit to keeping them on the field at the same time. It could help with both WR and some of the lost Schultz production. Let them share the carries and flex to other positions and it could be a defensive coordinator nightmare. Pollard has low miles, so if it works, you could keep the duo together if Pollard’s price is reasonable. If they did this, the pressure is on McCarthy to think more broadly.

I think the team is overly invested in the offense trying to compensate for Dak. I'd hate to see a first round pick used on a rb in a draft that is very deep at that position. Gibbs never really distinguished himself at Bama and was oft injured.

Would be a good pick, and I'm not a fan of RB's in the first. Gibbs is truly a 2 headed threat. Not only can he run the ball well, his pass catching/route running is up there for a RB. He's not a simple safety valve RB. He's a threat with the ball.

I think McCarthy would know how to use Gibbs to his strengths now that the former hierarchy at RB is gone.

There are a lot of between the tackles guys later in the draft it they feel they need that.

The Cowboys need offensive weapons and Gibbs makes us significantly more dangerous offensively.
Pretty much this. I don't think we should complicate the issue. The Cowboys are in the middle of a window where they can make a superbowl run, and that window realistically could shut any year now.

Find a player that can make you better for the next 4-5 years and be done with it. If we had a top 10 pick I understand the hesitation to go after another RB in the 1st as that likely means passing on another top talent at a position like the Zeke/Ramsay issues from the 2016 draft. At pick #26 I'm way more open minded about picking a player at a position with of lesser value like RB. If Gibbs is the best person on the board at #26, which seems to be a very realistic scenario you go for it.

I think it’s the opposite of fine.

Low value position
Cheap Position
Often injured position
Position partially dictated by OL

That's my biggest issue with Gibbs, he is a better version of Pollard, but neither are that bell cow type of runner. No doubt he is an electric prospect, but redundant.
The redundancy, though, is that you have a fresh Pollard-like player throughout the game. Defenses get hit by speed and then more speed, and backs that can burn them in the passing game as well. Puts all kinds of pressure on a defense instead of bringing in a player like Elliott, who never had home run ability and became a back who could only run between the tackles and got too injured or wore down to even do that effectively.

Although I'm into improving the trenches, I can't say that taking Gibbs wouldn't make us a better offense. I'd find it funny as well if the Eagles take Bijan and we take Gibbs, especially if Gibbs turns out to be the better back.

There might be only 15 1st round grades in this draft. That makes me feel better about taking a RB at 26. I don't like the WRs so I would prefer Gibbs to any of them. But if a Tackle is there or a CB falls, I go that direction instead. TE wouldn't be my first choice. But I wouldn't be upset. But all the evidence point towards offensive side of the ball. And there is a very good chance Gibbs is the best player on the board.

New offense.

If they don't plan to use him as both a WR and RB, then they shouldn't draft him.

On the flip side of Gibbs as a WR, they could draft a big RB for grinding it out on 1st downs and free up Pollard for more snaps as a WR.

Option 2 is the best case scenario IMO. Draft someone like Miller in the 4th or so.

Would be adding the 2nd best rusher and arguably the draft class best pass catcher all in the same pick. Yes please.

I don’t think the Eagles will be drafting a 1st rd back, they never do. As for Gibbs, I personally like to pair up speed with power

Mosher had a post on Twitter the other day. Any RB picked in the 26th slot walks into the NFL with the 7th highest paid RB contract, fully guaranteed.

It's a really, really cheap position.

Hi highlights are electric. My question is if there really is a large difference between him and someone like Deuce Vaughn? Sure Vaughn is a munchkin but would their stats be pretty similar if you put him on Alabama this year?
